And Away we Go..... Now it's Handguns (Again)

If your gag reflex will allow it, read this propaganda piece about the NYC Police Communist, er, Commissioner.

    Stupid Is As Stupid Says

    From the article:

"Handguns account for nearly all murders by firearm in New York City and state, data show. An analysis by the NYPD determined that assault weapons were used in just three of the 1,400 instances of gunplay in the city last year."

These people seriously can't see past the end of their noses. The above is a FACT, yet we must ban those evil rifles with the ever-so-scary pistol grips. This same author, if I had to guess, has probably written articles in support of banning the AR-15.

Oh, and the opening sentence is:

"The nationís looming assault-weapons ban is plain common sense, NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly said yesterday ó but the cityís real enemy is illegal handguns."

So let me make sure I have this right. The very same article states that only THREE of the 1400 firearms crimes in NYC last year involved "assault" rifles. But yet, banning "assault" rifles is "plain common sense."

I honestly haven't figured out if these people are idiots or if they just think that we are. Maybe it's both. Maybe we've reached a point where they've decided that enough Americans think in 5-second sound bites and can't comprehend anything deeper.

I just wish this would go away, I'm so sick of hearing the same "reasoning" by Anti 2a media. It's been the same argument for 10 years, and not getting any less incorrect.

When it comes to common sense most of our legislators have been short changed.

Yes. Here's a non-comprehensive list of things I'm tired of:

    1. Calling AR-15's and variants "assault" rifles.
    2. Referring to the 2nd Amendment as the right to hunt.
    3. Magazines being called "clips."
    4. Confusing semi-automatic rifles with fully automatic military weapons.
    5. Not understanding that the "military" features on an "assault" rifle are purely cosmetic.
    6. Not understanding that an AR-15 fires a .22 caliber bullet.
    7. The general leftist media spin on everything.
    8. Using the deaths of children to push an agenda.
    9. Portraying all gun owners as crazies, conspiracy nuts, criminals.
    10. Brainwashing our children to cringe at the very image of a firearm.

Give me some time and I can triple this list.

So by his own admission only .2% of the 1,400 instances of "gunplay" (gunplay? really?) involved so called "assault weapons" yet he's all for banning them, and Matt Bennett agrees with him because "There is no reason anyone should have these military-style weapons." So, they admit that these weapons don't account for any appreciable amount of the crime. They just don't like them ('cause they're black and ugly, I guess).

And now NY is more than likely going to go after handguns. Man, am I glad I don't live in NY!

Same here, but.... the scary thing is that New York is being used as a guinea pig to see just how far they can push things. I have to say that I'm surprised they didn't at least wait for the current draconian law to take effect before they started pushing the next one.

Your president used the same stupid logic in his debate with Romney. Remember this one?

"Part of it is seeing if we can get an assault weapons ban reintroduced, but part of it is also looking at other sources of the violence, because frankly, in my hometown of Chicago, there's an awful lot of violence, and they're not using AK-47s, they're using cheap handguns."

In their minds, they will ban "assault weapons' now since they have a tragedy to use to sway the public. After that, they will use the stats as a reason to ban handguns, since they are causing so much more 'harm" than the evil black guns they already banned. It all political calculation. They have no intention to stop at 'assault weapons."

They are just trying to get their foot in the door. Once they do, the door opens wider and wider until they are in the house and searching and seizing. That is the ultimate goal. We must keep the door closed.

The really depressing part of this (and there is a LOT here to be depressed about) is that the American public keeps electing these people (or the people who appoint them). Enough of our society has become so ADD, self absorbed and frankly entitled that it can't function without the nanny state. Most people just want "someone" to "do something" but they won't take the time to get educated or involved themselves. We have become sheep, wandering aimlessly and waiting for someone to feed us or tell us what to do.

OK, you guys have sent me off to work depressed...
