I suppose to start with, the NRA of course.

I was a bit dissappointed though that they were of ZERO help when I recently contacted them to try and help get FL law changed (see other thread somewhere here about carrying near Florida hospital's being a felony). They told me to get a lawyer although it's more of a sending letters to state reps kind of situation.

Anyone know of other orgs? I'm still agitating to try and get FL law edited and would love to know who to approach.

I'd say the NRA and the GOA...GOA website is...um...not that great looking, but they have some nice information on how your law makers voted.

One organization I've seen better results from isn't national.....yet.

    Virginia Citizens Defense League.

They haven't been around as long as the NRA, but they have more successes than failures....& to me that's what counts.

http://rmgo.org/ is local to Colorado (Rocky Mountain Gun Owners), but is very active and 'on the ball.'

Watch out for NRA moves, they are political after all, and some of their endorsements are questionable; of course, they are big.

    Thanks for your replies.

Looks like there are only two that are national. NRA & GOA.

Anyone know about the CCRKBA and SAF?

GOA is probably tops overall for 2A rights, however the NRA is the only group with any real political clout and unfortunately they don't always use it the way we would like them to. JPFO is also very good along with CCRKBA. VCDL does a lot on there local scene that has impact on all of us. The real problem with the NRA and 2A issues is that the political is only a small part of the NRA's mission.

I am a member of the NRA and GOA, and also of the two groups below.

http://www.ccrkba.org/index.htm Citizens Comittee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms

    http://www.saf.org/ Second Amendment Foundation

There is also a Congressional Comittee For the Right to Keep and Bear Arms but I can't find anything on the net.

You should also see if there is an NRA affiliate organization in your state. In Florida we are fortunate to have the Unified Sportsmen of Florida, headed by ex-NRA president Marion Hammer. There should be something like this in your state too.

Check out JPFO: www.jpfo.org They don't back down and they don't water down their message.

And, NO, you don't have to be Jewish. I don't think they really even care about your religious beliefs or ethnicity.

I'll second this one. VCDL is strong enough that it affects the national level.
