I read those too. It seems each liberal group is trying to out-liberal the next. We're destined for a case at SCOTUS. I just hope some of the lower courts realize the goofiness and stops some of it in its tracks. Holding my breath for that? Absolutely not.

Oregon's percentage of off-kilter Dems/Libs getting brazen (seeing the opportunity), you mean.

I don't even have to look to know that Ginny Burdick & Co. is likely behind (or at least sponsoring) all or nearly all of those bills. Burdick's been off the meds for a long, long time.

Oregon generally has the sense to file such things where they belong. After all, it's a must-issue CC, OC, machine-gun type state. Despite the off-the-meds types.

Fight it with everything you've got. Spread the word. And if you haven't done so already, join the Oregon Firearms Federation to lobby the heck out of these things, until those bills are trundled out the back for a good old-fashioned burning in the town square.

Oregon is typical. A bunch of Progressive Left people move into the population centers (where they can mass votes) and take over. Then they push a Progressive Left agenda against the rest of the state.

Yawn, same old story. Oregon, you lose.

I'm to tired tonight to spit out the facts to back that up, but there are many.

For all you 'newbees' it is called Socialist Creep..............................or 'Encroachment' if you prefer.

    From here
Senate Bill 758 would require that anyone who owns firearms that are located in Oregon possess discriminatory liability insurance for their firearms.

Senate Bill 760... would require that a person make a “good faith effort to retreat” before using physical force against an attacker.

Senate Bill 796... would require that applicants for CHLs perform a live fire demonstration and receive a score of at least 70 percent on a firing range test.

Senate Bill 699 would ban concealed handgun license (CHL) holders from carrying in the state Capitol, unless they receive written permission from the Legislative Administrator.

Senate Bill 700 would require that all private firearm transfers, except those between immediate family members, be subject to a criminal background check. These background checks would either have to be conducted directly through the Department of State Police or a through a licensed gun dealer, who may charge an unspecified fee. What’s more, the Department of State Police would be required to maintain the background information they obtain for a period of five years!

House Bill 3114... would authorize public universities, the Oregon Health and Science University, or community college districts to prohibit possession of firearms on campus, including by those who possess a valid CHL.

House Bill 3413... would create a crime of endangering a minor by allowing access to a firearm, which would be punishable by a maximum imprisonment for one year, a $6,250 fine, or both. HB 3413 would also prohibit the transfer of a firearm to anyone convicted of this new crime for a five-year period.
All of these are knee jerks to events mostly in about the last year including Sanford, FL, a year-and-a-day ago.

758 is nanny state intrusion into protected rights and private matters.

Senate Bill 760 doesn't change the legal fact that the right of self-preservation justifies use of lethal force, as Kathy Jackson says, "only when there is an immediate and otherwise unavoidable danger of death or grave bodily harm to the innocent". But it does transfer legal rights from honest citizens to criminals, subjecting the former to legal scrutiny beyond reason when ability, opportunity, and jeopardy are the moral and ethical standard of use of lethal force.

796 compares to a similar requirement that TN has to obtain that state's HCP. Useless as such a low hurdle but not onerous.

    699 is another GFZ.

700 is a precursor to registration and confiscation.

    3114 is another GFZ.

3413 is the state's intrusion into affairs in your own home criminalizing what may be a subjective call of an agent or officer of the state.
Americans understood the right of self-preservation as permitting a citizen to repel force by force
when the intervention of society... may be too late to prevent an injury.

I left Oregon when they decided it was okay to pass a retroactive taxation law in violation of the constitution. It seems that the libs are starting to show their true colors now. Very sad.

That one is directly on the upper echelon of the Oregon State Police. They have the authority in determining which states have "similar requirements" for licensure to Oregon, which is the deciding factor in which states are recognized. They have deliberately chosen not to declare any states' requirements as "similar".

Anyhoo, I've been firing off emails, letters and phone calls to the legislature. They backed off of HB 3200 in a hurry when the pressure was on, and the same can happen to these bills.
