Colorado Senate committees to take up Anti-gun bills on Mon, March 4th

Time for another round of calls, letters, emails to our "representatives"!
I received this email from Colorado pro-2A Senator Grantham:

"As you all know by now, the 2nd Amendment is under assault from our Democrat-controlled General Assembly. The House passed their package of four bills, with only three Democrat defections. All four of those are up in Senate committee on Monday. The Senate has just released its gun control package, three bills in all. All of these will also be up in Senate committee on Monday.

    House Bills
These bills would prohibit “large-capacity” magazines (13-1224), would eliminate the ability of a concealed carry licensee to carry on a university campus (13-1226), would impose fees for background checks (13-1228), and would require near-universal background checks (13-1229).

    Senate Bills
13-195 would require that a person be certified in-person to carry a concealed weapon. Under current law, a person may use a variety of means to prove competency, including on-line certification. 13-196 would establish liability for sellers and manufacturers under a variety of circumstances, if the weapon was used in a crime. And 13-197, which would prohibit a person who has been served with a protection order from possessing firearms for the duration of the protection order.

Six of the seven bills are terrible infringements of 2nd Amendment liberties. The last bill, 13-197, may need to be further examined. If you have the time to read it, feel free to let me know what you think. I’m more than happy to get your feedback.

Here is the committee schedule. If you would like to testify, get here early and put your name on the sign-in sheet. Signing up does not guarantee that you will get to testify, as many of you found out last time, but you cannot testify unless you are on the list.

All of the committee hearings will be taking place in the Capitol.

    SENATE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE
1:30 PM, Monday, March 4, Old Supreme Court Chambers
SB13-195–No On-line Training For Concealed Handgun Permits
    HB13-1224–Prohibiting Large-capacity Ammunition Magazines
    SB13-196–Assault Weapon Responsibility Act
SB13-197–No Firearms For Domestic Violence Offenders

SENATE STATE, VETERANS, & MILITARY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
    1:30 PM, Monday, March 4, SCR 356
    HB13-1229–Background Checks For Gun Transfers
HB13-1228–Payment For Background Checks For Gun Transfers
    HB13-1226–No Concealed Carry At Colleges

Feel free to stop by the Capitol on Monday to make your voice heard"

They have changed the times for Monday......

*Details for testifying on Monday, March 4:*

    - At 10:30, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hear the following
bills in the Old Supreme Court Chamber (Room 220) of the state
    Capitol:

    HB 1224 and SB 196

    - Also at 10:30, the Senate State, Veterans, and Military Affairs
Committee will hear the following bills in Senate Committee Room 356
on the third floor of the state Capitol:

    HB 1229, HB 1228, and HB 1226

    - Please make plans to arrive at the state Capitol in Denver no later
    than 9:45 a.m.

    - Once you arrive, please make your way to the respective committee
rooms so you can sign up to testify in opposition to these measures.
You will be assigned a number indicating the order you will be able to
testify. This will allow all interested parties the opportunity to
    testify before both committees.

    - Please note, you will be limited to three minutes of testimony in
each committee to address all of the bills.

Please also contact members of both committees in opposition to these
    measures:

Keep up the fight, and I hope ya'all get these killed and that don't pass. I know a lot of folks here are swearing they will never go to Colorado again if they do pass them, and that's a lot of people who own property, planning to retire there, and that right now go hunting, camping, fishing, skiing, and a whole lot of other things there (even includes soccer tournaments, Rockies games, etc). I won't.

The Republicans have a Petition up and running here: Stand Up For The 2nd Amendment | Colorado Senate News

Please consider signing the petition, further distributing it, and IF you are out of state, PLEASE add a comment that you hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, skiing, and vacation dollars will go elsewhere!
