Another possible fallout from anti-gun hype

Just thinking about the future ramifications of all this anti gun hype these days. I grew up during a time when it was very acceptable to play "cops and robbers" and "war". It was okay to use a stick or baseball bat as a gun and pretend to shoot "the bad guy". During this time, I knew a number of kids that wanted to grow up and become a policeman or join the armed services.

With all of the excessive and extreme anti-gun hype in the schools and communities these days, I'm wondering if we will end up raising a generation of individuals that is so afraid of the "evil gun" that we will have nobody to protect our community or our country. Pretty sobering thought.

While what you've said certainly is true we've also got to have faith.

I used to have a .38 revolver that had a few parts missing, thus inoperable, that was my sidearm during my cops and robbers days. No one ever gave it a second thought. Don't recall if it was a Colt or S&W.

to maltdoctor (the OP) = you hit the nail right on the head. Watch. This has been planned for quite some time and the Progressive Teacher's Unions and Press are making it happen.

They count on us being very short term focused. They are also counting on raising a generation of our youth who will hate guns. Thank god for the video game market! That is currently keeping the balance!

Video games don't kill people. Only crazy people who might have played a video game kill people.
Socialism Kills! Time proven, with a very large body count! We are a Constitutional Republic....... not a Democracy, get it correct!

So, use their own tactics against them.

They say "it takes a village." Be the village, raise your grandchildren to respect the right to keep and bear arms, teach them about firearms. Teach the truth.

I remember when I was in kindergarten for show and tell I brought in my cowboy toy lever rifle. Brought it to the bus stop, into the school, back into the bus, and then home. All without any second looks or problems from anyone. That was in the mid to late 70's. Wow how things have changed !!! Now kids with just having toy soldiers on the cupcakes.....thier cupcakes are being told to remove the toy soldiers, or kids playing on the playground with make believe enemies and throwing make believe hand grenades getting in trouble. The society today is becoming more stupid !!! Soon our young generation will not respect firearms, but be very afraid of it and that is NOT a good thing. God Bless

Like it or not, the grabbers have gained mindshare.

A little over a year ago, everybody was talking with enthusiasm about the latest episode of a multitude (albeit dumb) gun shows that were airing; American Guns, Red Jacket, Top Shot, etc.. Firearms were gaining popularity among the public. Now, those shows are gone & Comcast has even pulled firearm advertisements.

In a business meeting last week, one of my investors stepped out to use the restroom. He noticed a pile of Brownells order catalogs that I had in there. After the meeting, he said to me in a hushed voice that he was into guns too and had quite a collection.

Why the secrecy now? Guns have become a dirty/controversial word? Ridiculous! What really ticks me off, is that my kid and his friends at school have to now talk about their hunting and shooting in hushed tones, for fear of freaking out one of their brain-washed teachers. Balderpoop!

Oakchas is correct. It was only a year ago that the sheep were starting to think that guns were 'cool'. We can turn this back around by not being shy about our convictions. This gun-grabbing nonsense is embarrassing silliness and it needs to be treated and openly ridiculed as such.

Our society is actually becoming more closed-minded, as the "progressives" gain ground. Guns are bad, NOT being politically correct is bad, there is an all-out assault on the Christian religion while Islam gets a pass (judges siding with Sharia law). If you even think about speaking out against homosexuality, you have to call the local LGBT group and apologize. The thought police are coming for you!!! Man....I need to drink less coffee.....

    And wound up dead

I think there will always be people who think guns are bad and should be outlawed, period. However, I see a lot of young people who are good, decent kids and handle guns properly. They are brought up with respect and ethics. I have a son who is 24, plans to go into LE and has many friends who have gone into the military. They are out there, quiet but definitely there.

The Anti's are loud and get a lot of press but there's a huge group (like the members of this board) on the other side.

It will be a constant fight but I think we'll win.

No question that Political Correctness is a problem though.
