Agreed, committee was almost a given, but 10-8 is better than what I thought it would get in there.

This bill needs to precede Swinestein on the way to the netherworld.

Feinstein isn't going anywhere. She and Boxer have the machines in place to keep them in office as long as they want. Even if they choose to retire, you can bet that there will be a herd of ultra-liberals stampeding to take their place.

Straight down party lines - no surprise at all. I have said it before, if you vote for a democrat this is going to be the result. I don't trust any politician, but the dems are almost universal in their anti-gun behavior and they will follow the dictator in chief off any cliff.

Time to contact all of your members of the Senate, again, ideally ALL members of the Senate.

Strongly urge your opposition to such prohibitions against superfluous features and "large" magazines, none of which will affect the vast majority of violent crime committed by criminals, and which instead will place unconstitutional burdens and penalties on tens of millions of citizens.

It's a ploy to allow blue dog democrats a way to vote "against" gun control.

But it won't stop until just the right amount of stealth is used to get something passed and then they (holier-than-thou Congressmen) will stand on it as the basis for more.

It's like going to a bar and asking the prettiest girl there out for a date.....if she says "no" then you move on to the next prettiest....but if she says "yes" then you just left with the prettiest girl in the bar.

They make their initial attempt so encompassing that it's unlikely to pass but if it does then it's gravy....if it doesn't they try again with somethign not quite so harsh
Concealed means hidden from ordinary observation so as to prevent disclosure or recognition. A deadly weapon is concealed when it is carried on or about the person in such a manner that another person in the ordinary course of events would not be placed on notice that the weapon was being carried.

Looking at that committee vote, I am wondering where all the liberal gun owners are?

Feinstein is aware that she faces an uphill battle to get her bill passed by the Senate. Unlike the first time a ban on semiautomatics was pushed, in 1994 under then-President Bill Clinton, there is ample data available to allow gun rights advocates to argue that the ban accomplished nothing and that violent crime was barely affected.

There are also millions more citizens who actually own the firearms that would be included under the ban.

Too many in congress do not hold our rights as an absolute limit on their power to make laws that violate those rights. Feinstein's and her ilk's rationale is that it's their job to test every angle of every right to see how many laws can impact them. Their rationale is to turn our rights on their ear and allow them by exemption to their laws prohibiting them. What is this, the IRS? Exemption - sheesh.
Our Constitution limits government to enumerated powers therein. That's why laws have to have a Constitutional justification before consideration. How can a law that, in spirit, violates 2A in the Bill of Rights have Constitutional justification? In Feinstein's words, she "comes from a different place".

I bet Manchin is praying this doesn't come up for a vote because then he'll have to make a decision. Unless he has a Christmas party to go to and doesn't show up for the vote (like he did the first year he was in office).

Since the Democrats have the majority in the Senate, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it passes. After Obamacare made it through the Supreme Court, nothing surprises me anymore.

Every politician's purpose in life is to be reelected. Period. If you don't believe that, watch how many change their minds on term limits once they get in office. In order to get reelected, they will whore themselves out to any lobbyist or special interest group that will help them. Politicians routinely misspeak, jump ship, change parties (whatever it takes) to keep riding that big government gravy train. Check their stats. If you ain't rich before you arrive in Washington, you will be before you leave.

Feinstein was asked, in the context of her proposed gun ban and the 2nd Amendment, would she also support restrictions on the 1st or 4th amendments. Rather, than answer the question, she took the Hillary Clinton approach (when she was questioned about Benghazi) and simply responded with "(self)righteous indignation" that she's been in congress along time, isn't a 6th grader, is well educated, and simply thanked (sarcastically) the person who asked the question for the "lecture." Clearly, she knows that attacking the constitution on one amendment is a slippery slope in that ALL amendments are at risk, but refuses to acknowledge it.
