UPDATE: The shot heard 'cross the country

    Would you?
    Could you?
    Do you dare?

On the anniversary of "the shot heard 'round the world. . .

What if? What if a march were planned? What if the march was on Washington D.C.? Would you attend? Would you take a personal day from work? Would you take vacation? Would you do whatever it takes to go?

There was talk of a 10 millon man march on D.C. That many people would not fit on the mall... 2.7 million would, if every one stood stock still.

I don't think there are enough people who believe in their 2 A right enough to swear an oath to show up.

If you couldn't get 2+ mm to show for a peaceful demonstration, how can some of us even chatter about a coming revolution/rebellion/conflict?

How about this? Would anyone commit to firing one blank cartridge into the air, outside, at about 6:12 a.m. on April 19th, 2013?

Why? It's the anniversary of "the shot heard 'round the world." The beginning of the war for our independence.

Is it illegal to fire a blank? How about a cap gun (might still be able to own one of THOSE by then)?

If every gun owner in America would do that on that day, at that time, would it be "heard?"

Would enough shots be fired that every one, every where in this country would hear it... And know how important that sound was... And IS?

    FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

Better yet, after dawn's "shot heard 'round the country," at 9a.m., go to your county courthouse, or state capital...

Now, if we can't make ourselves "heard" and seen by such an action, we might as well go turn in our guns now.

Have we the courage of our convictions? Or are we just inter webby blow hards?

Four years ago, the Appleseed Project synchronized a volley to be fired at the same time at all Appleseed Events across the nation (Sunday, April 19) to commemorate the "shot heard round the world." Our "Red Hats" interrupted our training and practice to let us know what was going on, and why. We posted "redcoat" targets downrange and let fly... and I think their was a collective chill down the spine of every participant after the last shot was fired.

If it was legal to discharge a firearm where I live, I certainly would.

I wonder, is it illegal to fire blanks?
Oh, and if it is, but say 30 million people across the country did it at the same time... How many will the local jails hold?

Carbide cannons are generally legal, and louder.

Probably not, the Feds wouldn't remember "the shot heard 'round the world" they would assume we were celebrating the 51-day siege of the Branch Davidians in 1993, or the Oklahoma City Bombing in 1995.

If say 1000 people in a city did it at the same time, don't you think it would get some press... And, if it were described as a patriotic act, by all the interviewees...

Regardless of the historical origins, I am quite certain that in this day and age anything involving guns or explosives on April 19th is an incredibly horrible idea.

I cant believe people think it cant happen again. Its a cycle, Thomas Jeferson said that the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time. I pray it happens without the bloodshed, and that it can be refreshed by voting these people out of office, but I dont know.

    1. Courage to Liberty.
    2. Liberty to Abundance.
    3. Abundance to Complacency.
    4. Complacency to Apathy.
    5. Apathy to Dependence.
    6. Dependence to Bondage.

1 to 6 where does America rank in the cycle?

Going and standing in Washington. Accomplishes in reality- going and standing in Washington and being laughed out from behind windows by a President who cant run for President again and a minority of loud mouth communist wanna bes willing to fall on his sword because they believe either he is the savior they have been promised or they are desperate and believe he is the last best chance to get what they want anytime in the near future. In which case elections wont matter anymore. Means spending money to drive halfway across the nation to be all of the above. Not one grabber politicians mind would be changed.

Just on your original question. Government passes draconian unconstitutional law, attempts national confiscation by force. They started the war not the people. And proved beyond doubt willingness to use force to convert this country to a socialist regime. We dare speak of resistance because at that point there would be no other choice or option. A great many are sick to death of the posturing and word games that get no where, will vote, and try to avoid this horror.
Please dont mistake almost unending long suffering of wrongs done for years, and deep desire for peace and freedom together, as a lack of resolve if forced by millions. Very dangerous mistake for us all.
But Ill go out and shoot that morning. Promise.

I was one promoting such a march. However I don't think anyone would show up.

We here are a drop in the bucket so far as activism and knowledge of current events is concerned. The apathy in the country is incredible. In my town it is sad and embarrassing. We recently had a local vote of increase the sales tax by 1% for some pork barrel projects desired by folks with the ability to whisper in the right ears. The city had something like 6 outreach meetings - a total of about 25 people showed up - out of 40,000!

And when the time came to vote only 8% of the voters showed up. The tax was voted down by only 200 votes.

It is the apathy that will do the country in. People talk of "civil war." It isn't going to happen, not enough people would bother to show up.

With all due respect. Please dont kid yourself. People have marched and demonstrated for years. And we are where?
There is a line, where action is all thats left and when a huge number tired of talking and not wanting to fight will when forced far enough. That that is not realized is why this government is trying what its trying.
And that more than anything else frightens me for they dont have a clue.

My birthday is on April 19th and I did not know that this was the day the American Revolutionary War started. Double happy day for me then!

And yet, millions doing such things can achieve a lot. Civil rights marches and halting commitments in the Viet Nam war, in USA; national independence, in India ...

I had to do a bit of historical searching... Because of the mentions of Waco and the Oklahoma City bombing (above)... I love history.. .but I'm horrible with actual dates.

True enough, the Waco Siege ended violently on April 19th, and The Murrah Building bombing occurred on April 19th. Waco was happenstance, but the Murrah bombing was related to the Waco Siege (at least according to the "approved biography" of the bomber, and explanations he himself gave), not to the day of "the shot heard round the world."

So, it could be done, legitimately. In honor of the Minutemen, the original Militia.

    A call to muster?

    mus∑ter /ˈməstər/
Verb: Assemble (troops), esp. for inspection or in preparation for battle.
Noun: A formal gathering of troops, esp. for inspection, display, or exercise. (Google)

    Synonyms
verb. gather - collect - assemble - rally - congregate
noun. gathering - assembly - rally - assemblage - inspection

A call to muster the militia?

    mi∑li∑tia /məˈliSHə/
Noun: ...The militia of a country are the able bodied men organized into companies, regiments and brigades, with officers of all grades, and required by law to attend military exercises on certain days only, but at other times left to pursue their usual occupations. (1828 Webster's)

    Time:
6:12 a.m. Sunrise on the 19th of April 2013, on the east coast. (depending on where you live in the country it can be as late as 6:20 a.m. or as early as 6:05 a.m.) So, 6:15 a.m. may be a good average time.
"Over 700 Redcoats marched through the night of April 18, 1775, reaching Lexington near dawn. Awaiting them were 77 Minutemen - farmers and laborers trained to be "ready in a minute." One musket went off. Historians still debate which side fired the first shot, but within seconds, eight colonists lay dead on Lexington Green." ( Hoover Archives)
Dawn is before sunrise... and the action occurred near dawn.

If discharging a blank is illegal in your area, and you can't afford a blank pistol and you don't have or can't find a working cap gun, two pieces of 2X4 lumber can be "clapped" together to make a sound similar to a gunshot.

    Now, bring on the excuses.
For why we can't do this...
    why you won't do this...
why this is a bad idea...

    There isn't much time.

Then, after the "shot heard round the country." Second Amendment Supporters meet at the government building of their choice (city hall, county seat, state capital, Washington D.C.), to the limit of their ability... at 9:00 a.m. for one hour.... unarmed, standing silent.

Why silent? There appears to be a movement in this country to disband the militia. After the single shot at around sunrise, the old militia (able bodied men) goes and stands on their government's lawns, silenced. Unable to defend our country.

Yamamoto is often misquoted as telling the Emperor of Japan that he could not invade mainland America because there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass. While he DID NOT say that, it SHOULD be true.

And, because of the Miller decision rendered by the SCOTUS; the American Right to keep and bear arms centers on the ability to have arms that have a "reasonable relationship" to the preservation or efficiency of the militia and:

"The significance attributed to the term Militia appears from the debates in the Convention, the history and legislation of Colonies and States, and the writings of approved commentators. These show plainly enough that the Militia comprised all males physically capable of acting in concert for the common defense. 'A body of citizens enrolled for military discipline.' And further, that ordinarily when called for service these men were expected to appear bearing arms supplied by themselves and of the kind in common use at the time."
Now, I've tried to present every reason for doing this, and even means to do it legally... Not to honor a bombing or a siege but to honor the 2nd Amendment and to honor the men who would pledge their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to begin this country....

Tell me why it shouldn't be done?
