I was expecting to see a high profile lawsuit over this when the news annouced that Cuomo is working on allowing magazines with a 10 round capacity. A functional ban, by requiring something that is not available commercially is a big strike against the law.

This is going to be very interesting, hopefully the courts will through it out in its entirety.

Hard to imagine that the NY courts would see it rationally or fairly, being that it's firearms-related. Not in this climate, not in NY. Though, I'd love to be proved wrong.

It's New York, don't hold your breath. They may strike portions of it but they will likely leave enough to maintain their standing with the other anti states.

Just think of all of the Milllions + dollars in litigation costs (to the taxpayer) these Progressive Leftist twerps are going to cost YOU!

What a waste of our money and time.

Edit Add: I'm talking about the Politicians at all levels of Gov that use the 'Agenda' that they prefer, against the 2A, but make us pay, on BOTH ENDS (Thank you contributers to the NRA and other defenders of the 2A) to pay for their Petty Visions..................................

Vote with your pocket book next time! Forget who is left. middle or right................. vote for what you believe in regardless of if they have a (D), (I), (L) or (R) in front of their name.

If you believe in the true meaning of what the 2A is about, then you are apolitical, regardless of petty social issues and platforms (= Distractors from the true conversation of Liberty).

Yep. This will be decided by SCOTUS, hopefully sooner rather than later. Although, SCOTUS did leave the door open for new restrictions. It's just a question of what restrictions they will allow.

    Cuomo backtracks

N.Y. Gun Rights Advocates File Suit To Block Strictest In The Nation Law

And my favorite quote in the article (about taxes and guns)

Instead of the seven-bullet limit on gun magazines, the changes are expected to allow 10-bullet clips, which, sources said, can be used at shooting ranges. Gun owners would then be on the honor system to put only seven bullets in the clip.

Aren't clips used to load magazines?

Yeah, in this case, Cuomo didn't think his decisions through to their logical conclusions. It was impractical to set a 7 round limit, as most firearms don't have a 7 round mag made for them. This would, in effect, outlaw the use of almost all firearms in NY (which I have no doubt he would cheer). Problem is, even NY wouldn't go along with that, not to mention the legal challenges that the new legislation faces.

A kind of off topic/on topic question here. Under current law, the magazine can only be loaded with 7 rounds, IIRC. However, what if you loaded 7 rounds in the mag, and one in the chamber? Would that be breaking the law or do they consider the chamber part of the magazine?

Maybe they could just do the honor system with those big ole soft drinks. You can still have a 32 ounce cup but you have to only fill it with 16 ounces of tasty beverage.
