Oh, how true.... Flanking maneuvers, ambushes, and road side bombs... These antis fight as dirty as any other enemy combatant, and they are purporting to be working for us.

This would never even pass the senate, much less the house. Too many democrats don't even support it. It didn't die just this week - it was DOA.

The background checks and magazine bans are more questionable.

While I agree that it's not going to happen per its original grand plan, I do believe that the points made in the video are valid and absolutely worth noting. Also, as you mentioned, the UBG checks and mag cap bans are still a real threat. We must not let off the pressure. Stopping to applaud the demise of the AWB would be time better spent writing every state, federal and local legislator and letting them know that we are still here and we are still expecting strong Second Amendment support from them; not just yesterday, but today and tomorrow as well.

Reid: "I want something that will succeed."

And Feinstein, McCarthy, Schumer et al are still standing. And her name's on a number of such bills currently under consideration.

Feinstein: "Aimed to protect children, schools, malls ... aimed to dry up the supply of these over time ..."

MAC: "... Our opponents will not stop their efforts to stop their efforts to stop such bills. They're going to continue their assault on our Second Amendment rights ..."

    Yup.

Joe Biden knows and told the truth on tape in that video.

I don't want to see anything banned, but, the UBC obviously, would be the worst one, they could pass, assuming that's gun registration.Well,so far as what is being discussed this time,it is to me.

Biden's ram-road straight. MB's hand's gotta be tired, by now.

I know. And just imagine the insanity behind admitting that they aren't going to solve the "real" problem with what they are putting all of their time and effort into. I think that's even worse than actually thinking it WILL do something to curve the problem.

Did you think that same thing in '94?

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

...they'll take an inch if we'll give it...our mag limits and personal sales background checks are the ring through the nose...we should fight them as hard as a total ban on semiautos...they HAVE ENOUGH laws...they DON'T ENFORCE the ones they have...it's easier to lay more burdens on the backs of the law-abiding...this old mule's 'bout ready to kick...

I did. How wrong I was. How wrong we were.

This current crop of anti-liberty attempts is worse: expanded, more Draconian, without a "sunset" clause. Witness NY's skulduggery, in the past month. Witness the train of anti-gunner bills just layin' there in both the House and Senate. DOA? Maybe ... maybe not. The only question is: are you willing to risk it, with complacency?

    Don't trust politicians!!!!!

The most important thing in the politicians' playbook is the support of their fellow politicians. Politicians want to cooperate with each other so they can reap the benefits of the Good Ole Boys club. The fly in that ointment is that it is hard for them to get re-elected when they sell out their constituents via the aforementioned mutual cooperation. Don't think this issue is dead. All that is required to pass it is for these people to believe they can vote "Yes" without getting fired. Many would do it in a heartbeat to stay in the good graces of their cohorts and get that Quid Pro Quo. Harry Reid and company will attach the AWB to something more acceptable to try to get it passed. Everyone will claim they held their noses and were really voting "Yes" for the more acceptable item.

Keep the pressure on! These people are not likely to do the right thing on their own!

    Words to the wise.

That's pretty much all one needs to understand about the politics, here, at least in its current form. And little I've seen over the past 35yrs has convinced me differently.

I think many of us were lulled into a false sense of security the last time. I am not making the same mistake this time. I have been in almost constant letter writing and phone calling mode for the last two and a half months, and I will continue in this mode as long as I am physically able to type and pick up a phone.

I have no doubts about the fact that many members here on DC read these threads and they are concerned, but they haven't bothered to contact their elected officials. This needs to stop! All gun owners have skin in this game and we all (repeat, we all) need to keep the pressure on our representatives. People need to realize that we could still lose our rights, and it is the responsibility of every gun owner, whether you are a hunter, target shooter, skeet shooter, or your interest lie more with personal protection, to do all we can to defeat all of this liberty-robbing legislation.
