2A - History Lesson; How They Disarmed Our British Cousins

......During the years in which the British government incrementally took away most gun rights, the notion that a citizen had the right to armed self-defense came to be seen as vigilantism.

......Being good British subjects, most people obeyed the law.

The few who didn’t were visited by police and threatened with ten-year prison sentences if they didn’t comply.

Police later bragged that they’d taken nearly 200,000 handguns from private citizens.

How did the authorities know who had handguns? The guns had been registered and licensed. Kind of like cars. Sound familiar?

WAKE UP AMERICA; THIS IS WHY OUR FOUNDING FATHERS PUT THE SECOND AMENDMENT IN OUR CONSTITUTION.

If you're a rabble-rouser, Anglico, that means we must be the rabble.

Whatever else is true: it's high time to get roused.

The Dunblane Massacre sealed the death of British gun rights. The similarities between the Dunblane and Sandy Hook incidents and the subsequent public reaction are clear. The results will be different thanks to our 2nd Amendment.

Dunblane school massacre - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Dunblane school massacre occurred at Dunblane Primary School in the Scottish town of Dunblane on 13 March 1996. The gunman, 43-year-old Thomas Hamilton (b. 10 May 1952), entered the school armed with four handguns, shooting and killing sixteen children and one adult before committing suicide. Along with the 1987 Hungerford massacre, 1989 Monkseaton shootings and the 2010 Cumbria shootings, it remains one of the deadliest criminal acts involving firearms in the history of the United Kingdom.

Public debate subsequent to these events centred on gun control laws, including public petitions calling for a ban on private ownership of handguns and an official enquiry, the Cullen Report. In response to this debate, the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1997 and the Firearms (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 1997 were enacted, which effectively made private ownership of handguns illegal in the United Kingdom.

But they still have a huge amount of gun and knife crimes in the UK. So much so, that the Bobbies have become heavily armed there. And not just because of anti-terriorism reasons. Street crime is very high.

... and for one reason: unarmed victims make such soft, juicy, tasty targets.

Unarmed victims with absolutely no right to self defense and prison time/lawsuits if you even try to defend yourself.

So glad I don't live there any more. Let's not let it get that bad here. PLEASE!

While a rather long scholarly study; I found it not only excellent in it's presentation, but a frightening parallel path we are now taking.

The UK is the greatest example of where these "reasonable" measures lead. When the gun controllers claim they just want "common sense" rules and they don't want to take your guns away....well, that's what the people behind the first UK pistol permit schemes thought in 1903 as well. You just don't get on the slippery slope in the first place. Since we took our first steps in 1934, we are sadly already on the slope, though it isn't too late. We need to repeal everything the feds have done from then to now on guns, and in the long term, elect people who will place justices in the Supreme Court who actually bother to uphold the Constitution as written, not just whatever parts fit their ideology.

    registry = confiscation

This is how one Kalifornia legislator planned to use their gun registry.

California enacted its assault weapons ban in 1989 and expanded it in 1999, but those who already owned the banned guns were allowed to register and keep them.

Regarding CA AB174 -- Bonta also said he was keenly aware of the gun lobby's assertion that any state or national registration of firearms is merely a prelude to confiscation — something his bill actually pursued.

"I didn't want to have a bill that plays into that argument," he said. "I wanted to concentrate on some other bills that I thought would be more focused and more effective."
"Plays into" that argument. He meant, he didn't want to be seen panhandling a bill that WAS the argument.

Registration back in 1999, followed by AB174 to grab 'em all. Pretty bald example of the plan of attack.

Unsurprising, to most of us. Though, it's hard to imagine how any of the gun-grabbers can disclaim the threat with a straight face, anymore.
