The Spirit Of A Lone Soldier

I received this in an email today. I'm not ashamed to admit I had to choke back a tear when I thought of how we as a society are wasting (and therefore desecrating) the precious gift that our forefathers fought and died to secure for us.

The spirit of a lone soldier in George Washington's Continental Army stands barefoot in the freezing snow. Shivering in rags, hungry, and blood-stained from battle; he holds his battered musket in bandaged hands.

    There's fire in his eyes.

Looking over 200 years into the future, he tells all of us today,

"I gave to you a birthright of freedom, now enshrined in your Constitution, but your children graduate from high school too careless to read it. I fought in the icy winter, without shoes and with bloody feet, to give you the right to vote, but you stayed home on election day. I left my family destitute and hungry, so you could have the freedom to stand up and speak out for liberty, but you remain uninvolved. I orphaned my children, to give you a government endowed by God, but you have sat back and allowed others to hijack our rights and responsibilities."

Edit: After I choked back that tear I made a vow to fight, with all that is within me against those who would take my liberties away, not just for me, but for my children, and their children, and their children's children. We owe it to our future generations to retain for them the liberties our forefathers fought to provide us. I have been pretty politically active lately, but you ain't seen nothin' yet!

And there's fire in my eyes.

I've said it before, the average Joe is too busy watching Two and Half Men to care or understand what is transpiring in our country today.
And our schools are not teaching these lessons to the children. The Dumbing down of society.

Unfortunately the schools seem to have been taken over by the Socialists. The suspend kids from school if the point a finger at someone else or bit a cookie the wrong way. The have banned God from the schools, and in some places the Pledge of Allegiance. They are taught that competition and excellence is bad, we all must be cooperative drones for the good of society. etc., etc., etc.

Ten Bears: It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men.
