In this particular story, the man was not legally allowed to own weapons because he was a convicted felon. I understand that, and knowing other elements of the story he was up to a whole lot of no good and I'm glad he is no longer out and about. It's not as much the details of this particular incident but there are other elements in this story I find concerning. Such as

"The acquaintance reported that Szaraz spoke at length of being a patriot and mistrusting the federal government and law enforcement."

"Agent Franck said Szaraz espouses beliefs characteristic of sovereign citizen extremists, a movement the FBI categorizes as domestic terrorism."

"Subscribers reject the authority of the government and its laws."

So, let me get this right. Under the 1st Amendment, if a person speaks of being a patriot and not trusting the federal government, or they reject the authority of the govt and its laws (i.e. when they overstep their authority by creating laws that violate our Constitutional rights), then they are espousing beliefs characteristic of sovereign citizen extremists which the FBI categorizes as domestic terrorists.

Didn't they say they could snuff out US Citizens they label as terrorists with drones without any due process? See how they can so easily get from here to there?

I wonder how they will label people who express under the 1A that they do not trust liberal politicians to protect our Constitutional Rights when they are actively trying to enact laws against the 2A? That seems patriotic to me, but certainly not extreme. It only seems logical that you can't trust people who give you good reason not to trust them.

Paul James Szaraz, 47, isn't supposed to have guns. He's a felon with convictions for burglary, carrying a concealed weapon, marijuana possession and drunken driving, records show.
That alone should get him a long stay in the gray bar hotel. That area brings back memories, I used to live on Moon Lake Road back in the 1970s and even then there were some that were best avoided.

So they got him off the streets, or more accurately, off the farm. Good job. But I have to ask how he was able to obtain these weapons in the first place. Didn't he realize he wasn't supposed to own or posses any firearms? And how could they let this happen? After all, they want to get weapons out of the hands of bad guys, right? So, my question (which none of them can answer) is why are they talking about taking away my rights when it won't do squat for finding the real bad guys and disarming them?

Yeah, seems to me I've heard that a time or three. Wonder what stupidity we're going to be faced with next, "for the kids."

Well, in one state, it's No More Dodge Ball in school.

Because it hurts the kids self esteem and promotes bullying.

...and meanwhile, we raise yet another generation of kids who will grow up and can't do anything for themselves when they meet life head on.

Our POA is dealing with a sovereign rights resident. Those guys are nuts but not necessarily a terrorist.

I wish people will not forget the difficult time Mr. Holder went through before he finally admitted the constitution did not give them the authority to drone strike Americans not posing an imminent threat. Talk about dancing with the truth.
