2A - Mississippi Open Cary Law

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Law enforcement agencies around the state are educating their officers on the new open carry weapons law, which is known as House Bill 2. It has been approved by both houses of the Mississippi Legislature and signed by the governor.

The new law allows any Mississippian, who is not otherwise disqualified, to openly carry a gun, with or without a permit. A permit is still required if the weapon is concealed.

My Comments: I am not a personal fan of open carry unless hunting or fishing, which makes sense to me. But I love the fact that this shoves it one more littlle way up the Anti=2A Crowd agenda.

And that's the way it should be--educate the officers about the right and wrong ways of dealing with an OC'er. Teach then what is proper and legal before an incident is created.

+1. Hopefully the LEOs remember and put into practice what they are being taught about how to react in this situation.

I'm definitely an advocate for OC in our state. I'm glad that it's finally getting clarified since we've technically always had the right from our Mississippi Constitution. The definition of "concealed weapon" always had law-abiding citizens between a rock and a hard place with carrying openly in a holster. You can bet that come July 1 this guy will be OC'ing instead of stuffing my sidearm in my size 31's. Haha. I feel like it will be really well recieved in our locale. Hopefully it's accepted everywhere as well as I feel it will be here.

Good for your state! That's how it works in Montana. You can OC with a guardian at 14.

I prefer concealed, but I like the option to legally open carry.

I despise people who conceal and do not think anyone should open carry. These people would actually side with the Brady Campaign to stop OC. They say that OC makes gun owners look bad. If you open carry into a business, you are polite, respectful and smile how's that hurting gun owners? Maybe hold the door open for the old lady even!

There's so many OC online forum farses! Like not even cops in plain clothes off duty open carry. Well folks I seen a sheriff deputy in street clothes open carrying last night. I couldn't figure out why he had hand cuffs until I saw the sheriff vehicle outside.
