Conn. reaches deal on tough gun laws after Newtown

The proposal includes new registration requirements for existing magazines that carry 10 or more bullets...The package also creates what lawmakers said is the nation's first statewide dangerous weapon offender registry, creates a new "ammunition eligibility certificate," imposes immediate universal background checks for all firearms sales, and extends the state's assault weapons ban to 100 new types of firearms and requires that a weapon have only one of several features in order to be banned.
Plus more that will likely make you mad...Such as:

In Connecticut, we've broken the mold," he said. "Democrats and Republicans were able to come to an agreement on a strong, comprehensive bill. We can get it done here and they should get it done in their respective states and nationally in Congress.

Wonder when Colt will be moving?

I feel terrible for the folks in Connecticut. They've just been raped. I wonder what the specifics of "ammunition eligibility certificate" are. They weren't explained in the attached article.

Isn't more than just Colt based there? I too would like to know the specifics of the ammo certificate and also how they're going to go about dealing with the universal checks...

Many "blocked comments" in the comment section...

One posed a very apt question... "Is Connecticut going to give up the nickname, "The Constitution State?"

    One wonders...

Did the Republicans really "come to an agreement", or were they just bowled over?

If so, will the tea party have enough to fill the voids left by ousted Republicans? How long will CN live under these laws?

My bet? They will not be repealed.
Might go to SCOTUS, but prolly not.

And not a single one of these measures would have prevented what happened up there.

Any Constitution worthy of such title should be able to withstand a good mudslinging - even a drowning - and end up in the same ridiculous and arogant debate from which it was conceived - or stolen.
There is a solution but we are not Jedi... not yet.

It's not like it was a gun owners utopia to begin with. Already had some of the strictest laws around... Notice in the article one of them said they still weren't satisfied and they would be pushing for more.

I was born and raised in CT. Then I wised up and moved to Kentucky about 5 years ago. I guess I made the proper choice, and as mentioned I recommend the immediate forfeiture of the nickname, "the constitution state"

Coming to a town near you... In all seriousness, i wonder if it will be overturned, partially, or whatever like in NY. My gut says no on this one.

Like i said before... Many questions loom about the implementation and enforcement of universal checks, ammo certificates etc.
