As Congress and state legislatures debate gun control, the high court is likely to hear a case in the near future challenging state restrictions on carrying guns outside the home.

    Story Highlights:

    • Justices asked to take New York case on guns outside home
    • Ten states have similar laws; Illinois, D.C. have full prohibitions
    • Will court get involved in the wake of Newtown shootings?

If Heller #1 made the control freaks think that bans and registries are kosher...

just imagine what this will make them think.

Washington (CNN) -- The Supreme Court on Monday let stand New York's strict gun control law, rejecting an appeal from a group of gun owners.
At issue was whether the Constitution's Second Amendment provided a broad individual right to carry a handgun outside the home for self-defense.

SCOTUS didn't uphold anything. They just declined cert. Big difference.

All the more reason to boot the politicians out of office.
"As a strong supporter of our 2nd Amendment rights, I believe tougher enforcement of our nation's existing gun laws must be done before any more laws are enacted and put on the books."

I think as far as handgun laws go, this is what we can expect. They have just tacitly accepted the idea that there is no
constitutional right to keep and bear a handgun. They dodged the politics by declining to hear the case. This is much more low key and less attention getting than have the appeal herd and a big deal made when the decision is announced.
I think Scalia signaled his (and the court's) views in Heller and McDonald, and they are not what many here think they are. They are not going to be a ground breaking body on this issue.
If the Union is once severed, the line of separation will grow wider and wider, and the controversies which are now debated and settled in the halls of legislation will then be tried in fields of battle and determined by the sword.
