How Even A Terrorist Can Buy Explosive Powders Without A Background Check

While explosives such as ready-made bombs and major quantities of high-octane powders are subject to stricter regulation and must be registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, federal law exempts several key types of explosives from licensing and background check requirements. Even after the post-9/11 Safe Explosives Act, an individual can buy up to 50 pounds of black powder and any amount of smokeless powder (a more expensive blasting powder that leaves less residue) without undergoing any licensing or background check. Sellers of both products are not required to maintain any record-keeping of their sales, and sellers of smokeless power need not even maintain a license. Black powder is the most common explosive used in pipe bombs because it is so inexpensive, according to a 2005 Department of Justice report. For context, experts say it only takes about three pounds of powder to make one of the pressure-cooker bombs used in the Boston Marathon incident.

How even a terrorist (or average driver) can buy explosive liquids without a background check (ie, gasoline, propane, etc).

How even a terrorist (or average resident) can buy explosive gases without a background check (ie, simply by having natural gas piped to your home by the energy company).

How even a terrorist (or average person) can step on the pedal of a 3500 pound vehicle and have their own personal, private, mobile, pedestrian-crushing missile ... all without a "background" check.

Don't forget that their stupidity and ignorance knows no bounds... I wonder what they would do if you just poured a cup of gun powder on the ground and lit it in front of them... But .. But.. It didnt explode?!?

Back door run at ammunition. I'm so tired of these people.

High octane powders? I take it Nicole Flatow never passed any science classes in school. Might as well be using fathoms and frequency as a measuring stick. That said, I could probably visit her home and come up with some pretty lethal stuff from common household, yard, and garage items. Fortunately most terrorists are morons, those promised virgins are 80 year-old Catholic Nuns..

"They" are going to continue to come at us every which way but loose.... That is why we need to be ever vigilant and stay on the offense we are enjoying.........

They are determined to blame everything except the real culprits. They are always way too eager to put undue restrictions on the law-abiding people of this nation rather than actually go after the terrorists and go after and prosecute the criminals.

Lets ban natural gas and oxy-acetylene torches, too. Anyone ever see the explosive power of an oxy-acetylene gas mix? Pretty impressive.

    Fireworks are banned in Florida:
In Florida, it's illegal to buy, sell or explode consumer fireworks — even on your own property — unless you (A) have a city permit to shoot off fireworks for the public to enjoy; (B) will use the explosives to scare off birds from a farm or fish hatchery; or (C) you work on a railroad and need to light or clear a path for your train. The state defines "fireworks" to include standard fireworks, projectile fireworks, launchable rockets with stands, M-80s and bottle rockets.

In Florida you must sign a waiver stating that you have read Florida Statute 791.04 and 791.07 that points out the above required conditions. The waiver only protects the seller......
