Is the NRA that powerful? If Obama is correct that 90% support stricter background checks, we would have stricter background checks.

I really hate that she is being used like a pawn by this administration to push their socialist agenda. This 90% lie is absurd. The Senate did what they were hired to do: Vote in accordance with their constituant's desires. That's why they are called "Representatives" rather than "Lords."

So she was ok with them at one point, but because she was shot now they're suddenly evil and nobody should be allowed to own them?

That's like saying I used to have a pet bird but because a bird crapped on me the other day birds are evil and should all be destroyed!

In all fairness, I've known several anti-gun people that suddenly turned pro-gun after something happened to them...so I guess it can go the other way too. I really can't blame her for her personal opinion given what happened to her...I just think it is a shame on a lot of ways that she is being used as a pawn in the agenda. I think enforcing the current state reporting requirements for mental health issues would do more good than trying to punish law-abiding citizens for the evil acts of crazy people.

It's easy to poll 10 left leaner anti's. One just couldn't make up their mind. That makes 90%. Obama, the spin Doctor. The one that couldn't make up his mind was reassigned to one of Rosie O'Donnalds pool boys.

It's all in how the question is asked " would you support background checks if it prevented criminals from getting firearms"

She's a big girl. She's her own "pawn" on this topic. I feel for her, having gone through the criminal attack on her, as she did. But that's no justification to promote the destruction of liberties that have existed since our citizens WERE citizens in our several states, and she's pushing congress critters to do it in direct contravention of their sworn oaths to do the exact opposite. Protected liberties, in fact, protected against exactly the same predatory animals she's sending after the Constitution's 2A.

She and her ilk deserve to be destroyed in a pool of their own hypocrisy and unconstitutional rhetoric. Maybe they should trot out the hubby, again. He did real well.

Well I see BidDude's point and yours, and both are in opposition. Go figure.

If they had the groundswell of grassroots support they claim, their efforts would be unnecessary. Favoring something passively, like UBC, is vastly different than passionately demanding it.

Nope. We're saying the same thing, really, that GG is being leveraged to push the anti-gunner, liberty-hating agenda. She's willingly diving in with both feet, and she's being solicited by others to jump in with both feet. And it's we, the People, who're getting used and abused by her stance and the unconstitutional and lying/deceitful tactics being employed by our hirelings in congress.

I wonder what the NRA and GOA will do in 2014. Does anyone know whether they target vulnerable incumbents in conservative states/districts that have poor 2A ratings?

I do not think these organizations, which are us, can take the "one person, one vote" strategy into 2014. There needs to be selective focus on vulnerable incumbents that do not support the 2A.
