Real Title: Michigan Democrats push measures to halt gun violence
    The Detroit News

.....One of the measures would expand the current permit-to-purchase process for pistols to all guns. Townsend says his legislation would require residents buying any kind of gun to get a permit from local law enforcement and pass a background check. That process currently only applies to pistols.

Another measure would ensure that insurance co-pays for physical health services and mental health services are the same. This is required under the federal Affordable Health Care Act, but Barnett says it won't apply to people on large employer plans until 2017.

And to think we almost had the pistol purchase permits done away with last year until Newtown happened and Snyder caved.

At least with the pistol permit a cpl holder can ignore it. How's that gonna work for long guns?

And how does this reduce crime?

More BS legislation from the Lansing elite who don't realise everyone north of Grand Rapids hates them.

I thought all the people north of Grand Rapids were frozen in the ice, or on their way to Gulf Shores!

There are a few of us right here in Lansing that aren't real fond of them either!

The Detroit News needs to do their homework. You do not need a license to purchase a pistol from a FFL.
    MSP - Firearms

This would, in effect, provide background checks for all private purchases...and YES, the MSP stores that data.

All the gun owners in Michigan need to do is turn the Michigan Citizens for Guns , into a UNION .... then they'll leave them alone.

Alex, you no longer need a purchase permit if you are buying from an FFL...The state did stream line that.

These proposals will go nowhere in this state at this time. We control the house, senate, and the governors seat...

Its not only those north of I-96 that hates them. There are a lot of folks in town and around town that hate them.

    Really?

    News to me!

All I can find on MSP site still seems to suggest a purchase permit is required for non-CPL holders.

I cautiously agree with this assessment but its no reason not to fire a couple warning shots their way. As we all know, the only thing they care about is getting re-elected. I'd like the antis to keep their heads down and their opinons to themselves. We need to press the advantage.

If they are worried about getting re-elected, let them keep bringing this crap up. They will soon find out, that we do not agree with them....

Don't worry. With Snyder there and the house being mainly republican, this won't pass.
