Look no farther than Chicago for proof of anti-gun insanity

The Chicago Sun Times is reporting today that there will be no bond for a 33-year-old suspect who allegedly shot and killed a six-month-old toddler in March because of a dispute with the baby’s father over a stolen video game system.

And they want to make all gun laws just like Chicago's. Wake me when it's over....

Right - so WHY is this so blatantly ignored by the gainfully employed, law-abiding, voting citizens of Chicago? I can't fathom that the intelligent voting population there can be so bamboozled by "machine" politicians that they don't at least entertain open debate about this disconnect. [Batting head with hand...]

I see what you mean by that, but ...

WE didn't vote for the sort of unconstitutional eviscerations we're seeing. I certainly didn't. I don't deserve it. Nor do any who didn't vote for such things. Sadly, there are tens of millions who feel differently (if they feel at all), driving their choices via their apathy and ignorance, believing in the "juicy lime sucker" (pork barrel) approach to selecting hirelings. (Example: "Obama" phones.)

6 dead and 16 wounded in Chicago over Memorial Weekend.

Chicago doesn't have a gun problem - they have a gang problem...probably the worst in the nation.

Libs just use the gang problem as an excuse to implement their communist agenda.

Nothing new here.

Unfortunately there are more bottom feeders, democrats, and liberals in Chicago than the number of voters in the rest of the state. That's how the crooked politicians stay in power year after year. Even if you don't count the deceased who routinely vote, the rest of the state is out numbered. If it gets close, voting machines mysteriously disappear until the Dems win. If anyone should be worried about an armed citizenry, Chicago politicians would never see the light of day.

Chicago is tye old towne of gansters galore... who was it from there thay was just indicted not too long ago, the mayor wasn't it? The guy who was recorded as saying "I better get mine when it comes to his seat..." reffering to Obama's vacant senator seat before he got elected to the Fed level for, what, like a day before he was propped up to be the dictator in chief?

So many dirty birds in that bush...

Just to offer a different opinion on things. Downtown Chicago and the north side (Wrigleyville) are gorgeous. Very safe streets. People walking around all hours of the day. Not much crime, plenty of police. I know because I visited Chicago three to four times a year while schooling in west Michigan. I proposed to my wife in grant park watching fireworks on the 4th of July. Their downtown rivals Boston and New York in terms of bustle and activity. I've visited Chicago in and off for years and years. I've never felt unsafe downtown. Never.

All the news you hear is about the south side of Chicago. That's a wasteland. Projects as far as the eye can see. Gangs. Boarded up buildings. Crime.

Someone from Chitown jump in and back me up here.

To paint the whole city as a war zone or dump could not be farther from the truth and proof that one should speak from experience not heresay.

Oh, no doubt the city's architecture and some of its landscapes are beautiful. But, no doubt the citywide politics and crushingly-unconstitutional treatment of folks daring to defend themselves are good examples of what fuels such things in the city. Yes, south side is the most glaring example, largely written off as a "wasteland" and left to the dogs (gangs et al).

IMO, though, no amount of pretty architecture can redeem a city's nature on liberty and its focus on keeping its nest clean of excrement. It is what it is, and no number of pretty buildings and destinations are going to change that.

California is a another good example. Beautiful place. Awful partisan politics along the ultra-left-wing end of the scale that invades most communities, pretty though the surroundings happen to be.

Absolutely. It even trickled to my state on General Election Day. My precinct parking lot was full of Illinois tags.

I kid you not.

To put a twist on things: take my hometown of Detroit. Most of it aside from the three big casinos, government buildings, stadiums and places of worship (totaling about 5% of the city, tops), the rest of the city allows guns. Concealed carry is shall issue. Open carry is allowed. Michigan gun laws are far from restrictive. No magazine restrictions. Own as many guns as you want. Castle doctrine. Etc.

Yet Detroit is always among the top 5 most dangerous cities in the USA. More dangerous than Chicago will ever be.

Yes it may be worse if the populous wasn't armed at all. But being armed doesn't solve the issue either. Not without properly addressing crime with a strong police presence (they cut back on police funding every year).

In either city it is not a gun problem. Its a social economic problem. The problem is so deep that taking away one of the issues will do nothing to better either city. I could go further, but I do not want to get into the cultural issues that plague each city. I will say this, the welfare state is a major player in this....

Liberals have seberal problems with their thinking. First off, and most dangerous, is they think they are smarter then anyone else and think they can fix any problem "on their march towards the perfect society". They cant fathom that there are things beyond their control , mostly cause they are so shallow they arent affected by these "things". Like crime and gang crime. So the propaganda about gun control fits right into their thinking, since after all actual people arent really responsible for their actions. Thats to simple an explanation. There must be a more complex social science explanation to them "since Im so smart".

They wont admit its all pretty simple after all. That, and pretty much all one can do is protect themselves cause we wont become The United Federation Of Planets in our lifetimes. Where humanity has elevated itself beyond victimizing each other. Even in the big city the chances of becoming a statistic, if you have a little $$, are actually pretty small so then to are the chances the Liberal will be "victimized" into becoming a conservative. Besides, they are so "smart" anyways they will probably just so their attacker was traumatized from a lack of breast feeding they couldnt help but rob, rape, or shoot them.

One might say 50,000 to 60,000 gang members in a city of 3 m is not a whole lot but give these little turd birds a little credit. They use the internet to and some are even smart enough to see the value of political power. Most of all the older ones who have been around the system for awhiles. And since gangster life is "generational" in Chicago there are many, many thousands of fathers, mommies, coaches, ministers, community leaders, Politicians, and yes POLEECE, who came up in and around the gang sub culture. An Alderman in many places simple could not get elected without gang support. Sending gangsters around to canvass votes is a pretty good intimidation measure covered under the cover of helping "troubled youths". People are rightfully afraid of these little creeps so its a swell way to get out the vote. And of course theres all those millions of untraceable drug $$ ... There are neighborhoods that are pretty much totally ran by gangs and even assigning a squad to each individual block doesnt do much to slow them down. All in all its a pretty frightening situation and Chicago isnt the only big city with it.

How can you get rid of gangs when they have integrated themselves into every aspect of life, and even the centers of power, in a community? The answer is you cant. All you can do is protect yourself because, MR. Liberals, there are some things in life beyond fixing.

It's going to interesting watching the Chicago politicians explain why crime rates drop across the state when CC is legal everywhere in Illinois except Chicago!

#37 ·
I'm sure they'll do something responsible like pour money into active policing and heavy sentencing ... you know, all the things that actually help. They'll be able to "blame" it on their actions, not the actions of upstanding citizens who've been unshackled from the criminal enslavement they've had to endure to-date.

Well, in a few days, they're going to face a new reality in the Windy City.

Clock ticking on Illinois carry effort

Lawmakers in Illinois are running out of time to adopt some type of carry legislation and Chicago-based anti-gunners are pushing the most restrictive measure possible to create a checkerboard situation that would leave the Prairie State with a mishmash of conflicting local firearms regulations aimed at discouraging citizens from exercising their right to bear arms.
