    California Legislature Moves Seven Gun Bills Forward

    A package of seven bills to tighten gun regulations, including one to require registration for the purchase of ammunition, was approved by the state Senate on Wednesday after emotional debate about the limits of the Second Amendmentís guarantee of the right to keep and bear arms.

    Here are the bill texts:

    SB396 Would remove the grandafther clause for any magazine with a capacity of more than 10 rounds, requiring owners to ship them out of state or dispose of them by January 1, 2014

    AB180 Gives the city of Oakland special permission to write it's own more restrictive gun laws

    AB231 Would create the offense 'criminal storage of a firearm in the 3rd degree' when a person leaves a firearm in a location where the person knows, or reasonably knows a child is likely to gain access to it

    Proposed California Gun Law AB231 - American Gun Owners Alliance

    SB47 Prohibits so-called bullet buttons and other devices that gun manufacturers use to circumvent the state's assault weapons ban and allow swift reloading. A similar bill, AB48, passed in the Assembly and bans conversion kits that allow people to modify their weapons.

    SB53 Requires ammunition buyers to get a permit, have a background check and pay a fee.

    SB755 Expands the list of those prohibited from owning weapons to include people convicted of additional drug and alcohol offenses.

    SB683 Expands the requirement for a firearms safety certificate from handguns to rifle purchases.

    SB374 Prohibits the sale, purchase, manufacture, importation or transfer of semi-automatic rifles that can accept detachable magazines.

    SB293, which requires that guns sold in the state be equipped with technology, such as biometric readers, that would prevent anyone but the registered owner from firing them.

    That's a bunch of hooey. The last one effectively kills the new gun market in CA - which is, of course, the point.

    I wonder if Californistan will suffer another great migration of their citizens to more liberty minded states like Missouri....

    So basically they don't want any guns in CA? These laws are tighter than my mom with her money and that's saying something!!!

    Ahh well expect a mass migration of a scale never seen before as people leaves those states for more liberty minded ones.

    IDK, I think the 2014 elections will determine that when it comes around. CO isn't nearly as bad as CA in terms of gun politics, however the recent events of the Aurora theater shooting have definitely sensationalized things a bit.

    Maybe, the voters should elect someone with the "stones" to enforce the laws already on the books! What a novel idea.
    That might free up time to concentrate on more pressing issues like declining school standards, corruption in government, and many other issues more pressing.
    Sounds like a national problem, as well!
    The smells out of Sacramento are as bad as the ones coming from Washington, and Chi-town!
