2A - oops: Chicago's gun registry on the ropes (Too Bad, Oh So Sad)

Real Title: Chicago's gun registry on the ropes
By John Byrne, Chicago Tribune reporter

....Gun rights advocates derided the registry and Chicago's municipal permit process as ineffective in curbing gun crime and an unfair burden for law-abiding gun owners.

....The numbers indicate the registry wasn't effective. There are now about 8,650 Chicago firearms permit holders who have registered around 22,000 firearms, according to Mayor Rahm Emanuel's office. That's compared with the roughly 150,000 Chicago households the University of Chicago Crime Lab estimates currently have guns.

....Now the gun registry is on the verge of going away. During negotiations in Springfield to set up rules to allow people to carry concealed weapons, gun rights advocates won a concession to scrap the Chicago registry. The bill is now awaiting action by Gov. Pat Quinn, who could veto it, sign it or write changes into the legislation.

Good news. Does this mean that there might actually be hope for Illinois?

It's going to take a couple years of no blood running in the streets due to upstanding citizens no longer being criminalized for the political hacks to realize it might be safe to actually support the people of their own state. Liberty destruction only harms upstanding citizens, really, with criminals doing the ol' end-around anyway. The violent are now going to have a growing number of citizens facing them who'll not shy away from defending themselves against violent crime, violently if need be. And there'll surely be that sort of blood, in addition to the 'bangers wacking 'bangers (which isn't likely to stop anytime soon).

So long as the people can force their political hacks to smell the coffee, in that regard, IMO it'll keep improving. But they've got to get off their duffs and actually eliminate the liberty-haters from the legislature; without that, there's little hope. Perhaps we're seeing the beginnings of the stampede, slow though it might be.

How sad, too bad. Seriously, I am very happy for the freedom loving people of Illinois for their recent victories. They have fought long and hard and deserve it.

Well said....when it comes to Chicago's gun registry and ignorant gun control measures I am reminded of something my dad told me.
