2 New Gun Related Bills, 1 Resolution Introduced In Congress

Well it looks like congress is starting back up with new gun bills, two new bills (one in the Senate, one in the House) and one resolution)

The first two have no text but the descriptions don't look like they are good news. The third, HB1860 looks like it is redefining every term used to describe a firearm. You have to go to page 293 to see the firearm text .... love the part where they include starter pistols in the definition of firearm.

We need to keep an eye on these and see what exactly they are up to.

What is an undetectable firearm or undetectable magazine...

I want a totally stealth firearm... there is no such thing.

Must be a reference to those useless and economically unfeasable 3D printed firearms that MUST contain metal in order to function (IE ammo and firing pin) Thus making them detectable. (yay for the intelligence of our congressmen)

But those have to be created with a Star Trek Replicator. Or Calvin's Transmorgrifier... One hasn't been invented yet, and the other, unfortunately, was recycled.

What the heck is an undetectable firearm, and where can I get one? lol

I'm assuming they are sold along with the invisibility cloak?

1860 makes the transfer and possession (unless you already own it) of all machine guns illegal p326.
P330 - even if you have a resident permit, if w/in 1000 ft of a school, your gun must be unloaded and in a locked container. They are trying to blame the decline of the American school system on guns.
Each component of a round of ammunition will be considered ammunition - primers, bullets, cases

Wisconsin - time to boot Sensenberger (or whatever this tool's name is)

A concealed one, like as not. At least, before they all get done I'm sure that's exactly what they'll be gunnin' for.

I think you misread the school zone part - unloaded and locked is a separate exclusion to the no possession in school zone. It's still a bad law, in that it does not account for other states' permits recognized by a state, nor does it allow for discharge of a gun in self defense. (same as current law)

Page 335 - Background Check for Handguns - implements 5 day wait and need to get cleared by local chief of law enforcement. NO NO NO

Page 371 - if you buy two or more handguns in a 5 day period from a dealer - he's gotta let the AG know it. Really?

Under the definition of armor piercing bullets, an all copper bullet is included. What does that do to the Barnes TacXP?
Attorney general still determines if shotguns and shot shells "have a sporting purpose" - not his darn job!

That's enough for now, I'm sure others will find concerns in this pile of stuff.

ETA: I don't what's worse - the usual way bills are written, where they just include the changes (insert ..... after paragraph x, change this, delete that) which are pretty hard to understand without context, or this one where any actual changes to current law are buried in the bulk. It will take some very detailed reading to find all that this bill changes.

The only common sense gun legislation was written about 224 years ago.

I carry always not because I go places trouble is likely, but because trouble has a habit of not staying in its assigned zone.

Something seems off about these bills. I went to Popvox and searched on them.
    1) HR258 is the stolen valor act and has already been enacted
    2) SB1149 was not found
    3) HB1860 didn't exist, but HR1860 and it is as the OP describes. According to Popvox:
This bill was assigned to a congressional committee on May 7, 2013, which will consider it before possibly sending it on to the House or Senate as a whole. The majority of bills never make it past this point.
It looks like a real monstrosity of nonsense. I am inclined to not take action of contacting my representatives at this point because it isn't even going to be on their radar screens and probably won't ever be.
