Chicago Prepares for New Concealed Carry Gun Law

Chicago prepares for new concealed carry gun law...

CHICAGO (AP) This city, where violent street gangs shoot it out dozens of times a week despite some of the nation's toughest restrictions on guns, now faces a new challenge: Well-meaning citizens with the legal right to hit the streets with loaded firearms, whenever they want. As Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn mulls whether to sign off on eliminating the country's last concealed carry ban, the question in Chicago is whether it will matter in the crime-weary city. Will a place that long had one of the tightest bans on handguns be more at risk? Or will it be safer with a law that can only add to the number of guns already on the street?

Chicago and Cook County will still carry the Assault Weapons ban despite Conceal Carry. Quinn is still mulling over the Magazine issue as well. I wonder what the gun grabbers will say when Chicago's crime rate not only doesn't increase, but actually decreases a bit after this. It's impossible to trust that Illinois is going to establish a process anyone can engage and carry. I'm pretty sure they're planning on the nations hardest to comply carry law. Those scumbag politicians need to get their noses rubbed in a few civil rights suits if they continue to defy the Constitution. It doesn't look like Chicago is going to honor any other state's permit or offer non-resident permits of it's own...at least not yet.

When the first ccw carriers defend themselves successfully the gov will scream about the dead bad guys being shot. When a ccw carrier fails to win and ends up on the slab then the gov will scream that cc is death sentence.

That will go on for a while. The criminals in the Windy are so used to hunting sheep its going to take a bit for the reality the sheep are actually wolves in sheeps clothing and bite back before the crime rate starts down. But it will happen in less time that some would think I would say.

Another concern by Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart is the provision in the bill that calls for law enforcement and prosecutors to object to a governor-appointed panel if they suspect applicants are dangerous. In Cook County, where there are 358,000 registered gun owners, Dart said he's worried gang members and others who shouldn't have guns will slip through the cracks and be granted permits.
    - Really? Gang members who shouldn't have guns are already slipping through the cracks. They're given a slap on the wrist now for illegal gun possession. If Dart truly believes that a gang member is willing to undergo 16 hours of training, be finger printed and have a federal background check on them, then he is an SIMPLETON of the highest order.

Chicago's law will be simple... You can carry concealed... But you must wear spats, a white fedora with a black band, and carry in a violin case...

    That, they can understand...

Yeah, I got tapatalk, too. So what?

Why are all these politicians so convinced that a criminal with a permitted gun is more dangerous than a criminal that doesnt have a permit for the gun hes gonna have anyway???

I can see it now... The governor will sign off on it only if the max magazine size is one round. Of which cannot be chambered and has to be kept separate from the firearm.

On a more serious note. Hooray! I hope all law abiding citizen FLOODS them with apps!!!

Well, to the previously-unarmed citizen who's facing a deadly threat, it'll surely make a difference being capable of effectively withstanding and surviving such threats instead of merely being relegated to the status of "sacrificial lamb" yet again. In that sense, to such people under an "upraised knife," I'm sure thousands will find it a real boon to their survival abilities.

Be safe, IL citizens. Be aware the felons out there are going to be a bit rankled by your new-found ability to withstand their predations. It's likely going to be a little rough as both sides adjust to the new reality. May more and more BG's be shoved in the hole and/or captured with reduced violent impacts on citizens.

If you live in that state, and you are not hammering your local, City, Couty, State or Quinn on the fact that you have a right to defend yourselfs......... you are just wrong and not engaged.

Chicago politicians want everyone to carry like Barny Fife, unloaded pistol with 1 bullet and only 1 bullet to be carried in your top buttoned shirt pocket.
