Brits were largely unarmed before the ban of 1997, when a total of 162,000 handguns and 700 tons of ammunition were turned in by 57,000 subjects nationwide. This represents one person for every 960 Brits. They have never been a nation of handgun owners.

No, but its a warning of what can happen if we become complacent.

No risk of complacency here anytime soon, if recent trends are accurate indicators.

We used to be, and can see how that worked out directly as a result of their attempted imposition of gun control on a not-so-compliant populace.

I agree. But the point is to remain vigilant. Probably no one on this forum will become complacent, but there are plenty of people that aren't as alert in regards to 2A.

Whether its likely to happen here or not, it's important to show people that this is the result of allowing the government to strip us of our rights. The more people we can get to understand that point, the better off we'll be.

Some of those bill amendments in congress were only a few votes away from passing. The margin could be greater.

Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.

Our 2nd amendment is based on the mother country's laws at the time of its writing! Do not forget, both Oz and Britian have suffered from this issue!

Before each and every federal election I have checked each incumbents past bill sponsorship/vote on major issues and all first time candidates campaign platforms. Does it help, yes but not in all cases, Marco Rubio is a good example and has proved that he is not true to his word many times.

I have come to the conclusion that if they are an incumbent I will vote for his/her opponent or the first time candidate in the primaries. Even if the incumbent wins it does send him a message, especially if he wins by a very narrow margin. I am a republican, would I vote for an independent or a Tea-party person? Yep, in a heartbeat.
I can not recall one elected official from my district that has even made a feeble attempt to carry out his campaign promises in the 30 years that I have voted in this district. The worst of the worst is Alcee Hastings.

The present day king of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, queen in this case, is ceremonial only. His or her primary duties are to review corresondence eaceh day from the cabinet and sign if necessary without input and to represent the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland at all ceremonial functions. I do also believe that they have not been ruled by a King in over 300 years. The Prime Minister and and the House of Lords run the country.....
