Illinois Bill Makes Changes To New Concealed Carry Law

The ink on Illinois carry is barely dry and already they are trying to tear it apart:

Amends the Liquor Control Act of 1934. Provides that any owner of an establishment that serves alcohol on its premises who maintains a retail liquor license as provided in the Act and allows for the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages on its premises as an on premise consumption retailer, (deletes if more than 50% of the establishment's gross receipts within the prior 3 months is from the sale of alcohol) who knowingly fails to prohibit concealed firearms on its premises or who knowingly makes a false statement or record to avoid the prohibition of concealed firearms on its premises under the Firearm Concealed Carry Act shall be guilty of a business offense with a fine up to $5,000. Amends the Firearm Concealed Carry Act. Provides that a licensee under the Act shall not knowingly carry a firearm on or into any building, real property, and parking area under the control of an establishment that maintains a retail liquor license as provided in the Liquor Control Act of 1934 and allows for the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages on its premises as an on premise consumption retailer (rather than serves alcohol on its premises, if more than 50% of the establishment's gross receipts within the prior 3 months is from the sale of alcohol).

Actually no change has been made yet. It is only a proposal that hopefully will be voted down.

It's been well-debated on Chicago talk radio. It has zero chance of becoming law.

Yup. Criminalize 'em any way you can.

One would think the lunatics in the asylum would let the dang thing sit for 1yr, to see how it goes. While there are several aspects of the carry statutes that are pretty awful, there shouldn't be any that'll cause "the streets to run with blood" in horrible ways, other than the one good way it's supposed to: ceasing criminalizing citizens for daring to have an effective means of defense against violent predators, even if that means predators get taken down.

Ditto: Hopefully the proposal will be shot down, seen for what it is.

Actually many states have the 51% law; it allows a person to conceal carry into restaurants that serve alcohol and only bar carrying into an actual bar.

Yes, but what they are trying to do is delete the 51% language and make it illegal to carry in any place that serves alcohol, ie. any good restraunt.

I'm really beginning to appreciate some of the laws we have in Wisconsin.

I enjoy being the sober armed designated driver for my buddies on a night out. Why would they want to discourage that.

Why don't they just make it illegal to own ammunition .
