2A - New CDC Report: Armed Victims Less Likely to be Harmed by Attackers

Real Title: CDC: Armed Victims Less Likely to be Harmed by Attackers

My Comments: This report was commissioned by the Administration after Sandy Hook. The results backfired for the Antis, meaning they will ignore it!

The document — "Priorities For Research to Reduce the Threat of Firearm-Related Violence" — reports "studies that directly assessed the effect of actual defensive uses of guns (i.e., incidents in which a gun was ‘used’ by the crime victim in the sense of attacking or threatening an offender) have found consistently lower injury rates among gun-using crime victims compared with victims who used other self-protective strategies."

An article published in the NRA News (origional Article from the New American) said "If the president was looking to the CDC report for support on how to reduce the threat of firearm-related violence through legislation restricting the rights of American citizens, he was sorely disappointed."

The report also noted that most firearm violence does not result in death.

Interesting. I agree that it will be ignored. I also wouldn't be surprised if they scrub the findings and call for another study, you know, to get the right findings.

Sometimes I wish I still had Facebook so I could spread things like this. Then I realized that with my friends list I would have just been preaching to the choir

You know how true it must be if even the CDC can't ignore it. The gun controllers get more and more disgusting as greater research puts their claims up to real scrutiny.

This will never see the light of day with the MSM. And as we have seen with other recent events, if they don't like the outcome, they will just keep investigating until they manipulate it to get the outcome they want.

How many of my tax dollars were spent by these Einsteins to arrive at this conclusion? Brilliant!

I'm surprised the CDC let this out the door.
I'm suspicious, as with all things government.

Such as: 30,000 people die every year in the US from flu.
When 78 people died worldwide from Bird Flu, it was called a "pandemic".

I don't think that it's a Center for Disease Control report. You start tracking it back and you come to this...

What's the Institute of Medicine and National Research Council of the National Academies. They also have a report on ballistic imaging.

I doubt if any of your tax dollars went for it since the report is for sale and their website asks for donations.

Don't ignore Govt Grants as a path to US Tax dollars. They get those also. And Grants carry heavy influence for researchers.

I'm sure they'll just call for a do over like the Zimmerman trial when they didn't get the results they wanted.

I don't. Are you aware of any government grants that went to fund this particular report? Just curious. I realize that government grants in other areas would free up money that could be used for a report like this. I'm just wondering if there was any direct government involvement in producing it.

Fact 1) The current Administration directed the CDC to commission the report (tax money was spent, since Civil Servants or appointees do not work for free)

Fact 2) The CDC then wrote a solicitation and awarded the work to the final producers of the report (tax money was spent, since Civil Servants, or Govt Contractors, do not work for free)

Fact 3) The CDC would then have to review the report after the fact, using more US Tax money.

Also, one can assume that there was either direct offers of US Tax money funded Grants, or the normal trick of offering Grant money on other research projects to free up the talent for this one.

Now, was it directly funded by the Gov (depends on how you follow the money trail)? I would say no. Were US Tax dollars used to get it initiated and completed? Yes.
