At least he vetoed it quickly so there is still time to override it this session.

The same day as Taft's veto, the state House overrided with a 71-21 vote, so it now goes to the state Senate, which is unfortunately out of session until the 12th.

How is your senate looking for an override?

We need 20 votes to override. We had 19 votes when it passed the Senate last week. Two very pro-gun Senators were missing last week. So, if we can hold all those who voted for it last week together, we're in good shape.

Good deal. Maybe now carry in Ohio won't be ridiculous. I'll continue to hope it goes through.

    From NRA-ILA just now -

Veto On Ohio Carry Bill Overridden

    Beacon Journal

For almost eight years, Gov. Bob Taft never had one of his vetoes overridden by a legislative chamber--until Dec. 7. A few hours after Taft vetoed legislation amending the state`s concealed-carry law, the House voted 71-21 to override.

Fourteen Democrats joined 57 Republicans to exceed the 60 votes needed in the lower chamber.

The Ohio Surpeme Court ruled today on Cincinnat's Assault weapons ban, which had been appealed and hadn't been enforced since 2004. They upheld the ban, but lets hope it goes away in a couple of months anyway. (I try to avoid going inside city limits anyways)

A different article in today's paper outlined what the laws cover. According to the law any semi-auot is banned in city limits, just shows how much pre-emption is needed.

On a side note, I like the author of the first article saying "Gov. Bob Taft vetoed a concealed-carry gun bill that would override the city’s ordinance. That action was quickly slapped down by the House, which voted 71-21 to override his veto." The bold is mine, I just liked that wording, and I'm sure some of the other Ohioans do too.
