Earlier Friday, gun control advocate Bryan Miller took a disabled .50-caliber sniper rifle to the Statehouse to demonstrate its destructive capacity.
Disabled, did he drop it on someone’s toe to demonstrate how dangerous it could be?

"These are military weapons designed and manufactured to destroy material targets such as chemical plants, refineries, chemical and rail tanks and passenger aircraft, targets that abound in New Jersey," he said. "A potential attack with a .50-caliber weapon could have a catastrophic environmental impact in the Garden State."
So they are responsible for “global warming” also?

It was the second week in a row that Christie took action on gun-related legislation adopted by lawmakers in response to the deadly shooting rampage last year at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
Never let a crisis go to waste.

So he vetoed a ban on a 50 cal. Big deal. He can veto a ban on tanks, its still next to impossible for someone from NJ to get a CCW permit. Another liberal in left leaning conservative clothing.

How many people killed a year with a legal 50? How killed a year with a illegal bomb?

I agree. Now he'll probably use this to "prove" he is a huge 2A supporter.

Let's see: veto a ban against .50 caliber rifles that hardly anyone in NJ owns (thus actually affect few owners/voters), thus making him look pro-gun, or pass laws restricting common firearms and hollow point ammo, which is more likely to be possessed.

Vote for the mew next governor of your choice.

Well, based on his previous actions the pro-gun crowd will never trust him...and based on this the anti-gun crowd will never trust him. So, by waffling and flip flopping he has managed to alienate EVERYONE. Pick a side, and stick to it.

Lawmakers have taken up more than two dozen bills. Of the 15 sent to Christie, he has signed 11, including one on Friday creating a school task force.
Christie only vetoed parts of the bill. Mainly because the "Smart card" mandated by the bill (get this) does not exist! Yeah, it's going to take more than not banning the Barrett to convince me.

Has anyone noticed the glowing reviews he is receiving from MSNBC and other progressives? Here's their strategy: support the most liberal Republican they can stomach (and think they can beat). Do softball pieces of the soggy, milk toast, dead fish through the primaries, then lambaste them in the general election. Yeah, progressives would love to see a Christie v. Clinton 2016. Their greatest fear: an actual conservative.

The only common sense gun legislation was written about 224 years ago.

I carry always not because I go places trouble is likely, but because trouble has a habit of not staying in its assigned zone.

I lived in NJ for 12 years...the last couple under Christie. I wasn't impressed.
Yea, he did some things that were good for the state financially...with pensions and the like.
But he's NOT a 2A guy...he's a big government, nanny-state guy. (I think he has a higher rating among political liberals in NJ than he does with conservatives.
He's been no help to the doomed CC movement in Jersey.
No, this veto was purely a political move.
He won't get my vote in any primary.
