    None of Your Damn Business

I took my wife to see a new doctor last week and she had to fill out a lot of paperwork. Most of it was medical history and the like. However, on the form there was the question, "Do you own a handgun?" She could only check yes or no. There was not a "none of your damn business" choice offered. I told her to check no, as that was the closest i could come to none of your damn business. I am still irritated.

I had the same kind of form(s) given to me every six months to fill out with the same question and a bunch of other garbage i told the girl at the front desk i was not filling it out and i did not .

I think all that paperwork is just busy work to keep you from finding out you spent an extra hour at there office .

    Just say 'no'. Yup.

I own a car with more than 100hp, too. But I have yet to see that question on such forms.

My family and I have our responses down. If verbally asked, our responses will be "Oh, guns scare me." Havent come across the written form question, yet.

Whenever you are asked to fill out any personal forms or to answer any personal (non-medical) questions at a medical facility, remember this: Obamacare. We are being asked those questions for a reason and it has nothing to do with health.
If I gave a crap about what you think about my guns.....it was early this morning and I already flushed it!

Anyone can ask me anything they like, and I am free to respond as I choose.

You live in Chicago, it's a well-spring of "Hope and Change". If my Doc handed me those forms, he'd point to that question with a nod & a wink.

A better question relative to family safety is "do you own a swimming pool?"

Back in CT there was a dustup between an old guy in my sportsman's club (retired dentist, local icon) and an eccentric neighbor. Doc had a private range that he'd let almost anyone use if you asked nicely, but the neighbor fabricated a story about people aiming guns at his property, and the range issue became the local topic for months. "Child safety " was the drum that was being beaten. I was the voice of reason for my club and local sportsmen in a few public hearings. I correctly pointed out that in the preceding 10+ years in that town alone, more kids had died in backyard swimming pools and been seriously injured on bicycles than the total number of recreational shooting deaths and injuries in the entire state of Connecticut. At the meeting following my quote appearing in the local papers, you'd have thought I had suggested boiling children in oil - a half a dozen people from the neighborhood in question got in my face and practically screamed at me about how wrong I was. Sometimes there's no convincing the ignorant.
