    Wow. A pro-gun piece from CNN . . .

CNN isn't known for a clear-thinking approach to the gun issue (and I've exchanged emails with them about it), and neither is the particular author of this piece:

Opinion: Gun control is not the answer - CNN.com

But, for a change, this particular CNN article comes down on the side of the Second Amendment. A quote:

And each time a politician or gun-control advocate tries to use these two very different examples interchangeably, the entire conversation and argument are compromised.
    This happened after Newtown.
    It happened after Aurora.
And it will keep continue to happen until the advocates accept that ridding the country of guns is a hopeless -- and unconstitutional mission -- and that the real goal should be addressing the factors that lead to the various forms of gun violence: factors such as poverty, mental health and failing schools.

Be still my heart. I can't believe that CNN has that kind of common sense. Good for them, and thanks for sharing.

Every now and then, writers think for themselves and see the obvious; and every now and then, the editors publish it despite the pressure.

    Kudos for honesty at CNN.

I suspect the author of that piece may soon be looking for a new gig. CNN is not inclined to go along with well thought out logical arguments.

They are more interested in promoting emotionally charged name calling rants that have little if anything to do with facts and everything to do with advancing their particular agenda on a wide variety of issues and subjects.

Well thought out and written reporting.

My guess is that it will fall on deaf ears - those that can't separate the underlying cause from the tools used.

I'll withhold my applause till I see a pattern of behavior, because at the moment this is an outlier.

This is the exact opposite of what the brady gang and other anti-gunners have been screaming for years.

Because like it or not, the folks spraying our cities with bullets are not NRA members or legal gun owners. And despite the tendency to tie it all together, they have nothing to do with the Adam Lanzas of the world.

Hell just froze over. I think Americans are finally uniting again under the common factor that we need to stop fighting among ourselves and address gun control as a power grab by the federal government.

Good for them, personally I never really though of CNN as anti gun, mostly just sensationalist.

I'm glad to see some sensible yakking coming from the media... That said, There will be more coverage of the president (small p) chiding congress for failure to enact gun control, and Reid saying he may try again.

Get ready to go to battle again. Gird up.

Yeah, I got tapatalk, too. So what?
    Rats!
    It could be worse!
    I suppose
