Forsyth County Vote REPEALS Gun Ban!
Friday, December 8th, 2006
Success! Last night, the Forsyth County Commission voted to repeal its ban on firearms in county parks. Kelly Kennett and John Monroe were there to speak for GCO. Kelly Kennett is a Forsyth County resident and GCO member who has been pushing this repeal for some time. This success goes to show that people can make a difference through grassroots efforts in their own communities. Congratulations!
Now there are only
7 counties known to ban the possession of firearms in violation of state preemption law.

Glad to hear it. I wonder why 7 counties are able to break state law without repercussion -- and why it takes a concerted movement by CCWers to get them to obey the law.
I hope someone at the county level has to actually pay damages and legal fees once they are found to have been breaking state law!

Well someone would probably have to be wrongfully prosecuted under the preempted laws for anyone to be awarded damages.
So far this is being handled at the county commissions themselves by getting the ordinances repealed. No one has yet sued a county over the illegal ordinances.
We have a list of counties and cities in the state the illegally restrict carry:

I wish we could get some of those kind of public servants (aka politicians) up here in MD.
Good for GA though.
Thanks

That is good news. Send some of those helpful servants here to NC to see if we can get our laws changed.
