Thats great but if you read the local government must approve the carry permits and no permits have been issued yet. Still Chicago politics. It does look like someday law abiding citizens of Chicago will be able to protect themselves

He is correct. A 'certain political party,' in the South after the Civil war passed laws to keep guns out of black hands.

Right now the Antis from Chi Town, are putting both hands over their ears and yelling " LALALALALALALALA I CAN"T HEAR YOU"
(It was cute when my daughters where in their teens doing this)

I would like to see a study in a couple of years to see how this affects violent crime rates. I bet I can predict the results.

Exactly, and then we need to compare that to NY and CA.

I'll only be carrying like 1% of the time 'cause I take public trans everywhere.

Sadly, with all the restrictions about this or that venue, event or mode of transportation, it's going to be a fool's hope for altogether too many Illinois citizens.

Paraphrasing from Dr. Seuss's Green Eggs And Ham story ...

    Chicago's Lament:

I may not carry on a boat.
    I mayn't do so with a goat.
I am disallowed carrying in the rain.
I may not carry them on a train.
Not in a taxi, or two or three!
Not in a car! You let me be!
I am criminalized if carrying them in a box.
I am branded 'felon' if with a fox.
    I mayn't carry in a house.
    I simply shouldn't with a mouse.
I wish I could carry here or there ...
like the 2A demands, carry them ANYWHERE!

For the sake of accuracy, to say local government (i.e. LE) must approve is not correct. They have 30 days from the time that the application is filed to object to an applicant's CCW. Then, the matter is to go to a Review Board for final decision. In other words, LE does not have a veto power here.
