Not to start any arguments here but....seriously? Warning shots?
Now, if you cut me I'll bleed the 2nd amendment all over the place but this is just a really bad idea that can go wrong in numerous ways.

It would be easier to dis-bar Florida State Attorney Angela Corey.

I don't think so At All - now being "prepared to shoot" and "must shoot" are in no way the same or even similar - it would be hard to find many who would condone you draw - they leave shooting them anyway "because ,well you did draw your weapon"

    Full of fail.

The Florida legislature should be made to understand basic firearms safety rules before being allowed to introduce or vote on any connected issue.

Laws like this are no different than duty to retreat laws..........give the threat another chance while bystanders are endangered.

If I was on my property, and I saw someone trying to steal say... my beloved dog, I wouldn't hesitate throwing a round into the dirt as I approached at the ready. I would hate to be prosecuted for doing that.

Now, in public, options get slimmer, but I won't say that it is impossible.

I just can't figure out if I'd want to do this or not. I think I'm leaning to the side of no warning shots. It just seems like the possibility of some unintended getting hurt by this.

Doesn't make sense and confusing the way it's written.

There will be many consequences from codifying such. For example, the first time someone shoots someone in a justified self-defense situation, the liberal DA now has in his bag of tricks a new weapon: "Under Florida law, you could have fired a warning shot to end the attack. Instead, you shot Mr. X 3 times in the chest. Can you explain to this court WHY?"

    It's bad law.

Because "I could have fired a warning shot" is not meaning it was legally mandated that I had to do so- my life was in immediate danger- I acted accordingly and legally under FLA law -

    DISMISSED.....

Does it say where the warning shot has to be directed? If not, I'd be happy to fire a warning shot to the chest.

What about an intended shot that missed it's target, would that be considered a warning shot if he stopped firing because the BG retreated ?
