Two things emerge from the above discussion. It is apparent that schools, in general, do not teach what we would like them to teach our children. Whose fault is that? Secondly, some of you have pointed out that you have taught your children about firearms, the 2nd Amendment and the need for both. So, the schools are failing us, and most of us subliminally realize that and have decided that it is we, the parents, who bear the most responsibility for the education of our children at least in the matters of the gun and the Constitution.
I believe it was Lenin who said; "Give me your children."

What does that say about the teachers? If that is what the teacher know is it any wonder that our kids grow up ignorant of the most fundamental truths?

Well..... times and language change but the Founding Fathers weren't always perfect with their use of the English language...

"in order to form a MORE PERFECT union"

More perfect!?!?! I don't think perfect has changed much since the 18th century and doubt more has either. How do you get "more perfect"?

It is interesting though. The idea that the current world is somehow safer than the past. At the same time realize these kids are being raised in what they are told is a safe school enviorment. The majority only know violence from television and movies, and too much from their to boot. I don't expect school kids to understand the real reason for the 2A, the true existence of evil in this world or the fact at their young age that the only person who can really protect them is themselves. Young children should not be confronted with such ugly realities until they reach a maturity level at which they can handle them. The teachers should explain that there is a good reason for the 2A but we all know the odds of that happening...
