"Society never advances. It recedes as fast on one side as it gains on the other. It undergoes continual change; but this change is not [an improvement]. For everything that is given, something is taken."

Anyone wondering whether this is legitimate? Thinking from the perspective of anti's and what might make sense, could this be a ruse to acquire the names/locations of the "worst" noisemakers across the country? Imagine, 1M+ names to surreptitiously hand the BATF. As energized as many are on the issue, I'd also be willing to bet many/most supply their legit names and contact info. Further: "thepetitionsite.com"? What is that?
Seems to me that a hundred copies of letters and postcards to legislators would be effective, without the attendant risk of filling out some form on a web site.
Heck, the government knows I have guns - they gave me some of them! I personnaly don't think it's a ruse - sites like this exist for many hot button issues. Still, you are giving your name, but that's the point of a petition, no? I have sent an email to my state Rep and both Senators, hard copy letters will follow. I suggest EVERYONE do the same.
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.
With comments also. Kept it civil.

Online petitions are great for seeing that others agree with you.
Even hand written petitions aren't worth much in politics.

Oh yeh? Well this was sent from the scary black electrical box under my desk, so there!

Sometimes I wonder who the old man in the mirror is....
Lord, Grant me a good sword and no need to use it.
The FBI recently published a study on "Cop Attackers". In it, the sample population of offenders repeatedly scoffed at anti-gun laws and derided them as specifically unable to prevent them from obtaining any type of firearm. I would suggest that every member of Congress read this study.

Got two others to sign and to spread word.
Friendship... is not something you learn in school. But if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven't learned anything.
