    MD - Castle, in committee

Hey - is MD at last gonna improve things? I was - ashamed to say - not aware this was coming up but sure hope it will achieve something. We are overdue for this in PA.

Maryland Committees to Consider Castle Doctrine Tomorrow!

    Your Attendance is Needed!

Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 7, the Maryland Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee and the House Judiciary Committee will both hold public hearings on the Castle Doctrine legislation pending in their respective chambers. Senate Bill 518, sponsored by State Senator Nancy Jacobs (R-34) and House Bill 455, sponsored by Delegate Bill Frank (R-42), make much-needed reforms to Marylands self-defense laws.

I'll pass out if this passes. Maryland is about as unfriendly to the concept of the masses defending themselves as one can get.

Blame it on Sixto - now that is a viable plan.

Oddly, you just never know. The assault weapons bill that went before committee for hearings last week went much better than any of us could have hoped. It might not even come to andy kind of floor debate or vote. If it turns out that way, that will in itself be a very positive step in the State.

Not that I think we'll see CC any time soon........

MD will have an open commitee meeting on that very subject on Friday the 9th. To discuss the repeal the "must show cause" part of the carry law.

With the AWB all but "shot down" and with this discussion on "castle" today if it goes well there just might be some meaningful CCW reform in MD soon.

Call me optomistic but.... I am remaing hopeful.

    Mike,

I'm with you, hopeful, but dubious about success after so many years of failure. It sure would be interesting though....... Passing with the Dems in power!!

Well of the 19 co-sponsors at least 5 are dems I can't seem to find info. on 2 of them so it's possible that 7 co-sponsors are dems. The 2 title sponsors Riley and James are both Dems and get this James is a female as well. This gives me even more reason to be hopeful

Good luck folks in Maryland. Perhaps this could be a trip down a road to them allowing CCW. I certainly hope so as I have many friends in Maryland that I would like to visit more.
