Leave a note on CBS's 48 hours website
If you missed it, 48hrs ran a good smear piece on Glocks, "hi cap" mags and the whole bit. Even dug up a NJ sheriff to talk about he "sexy 9mm" and how they are nothing more than instruments of death. Please take a moment to skim the story and leave them a message.

My comments:
Criminals will always be able to get guns. Banning firearms only keeps them out of the hands of those not inclined to break the law. Indeed, the VT campus is the perfect example. A criminal ignored the law and had a gun, law abiding students were unarmed, defenseless, and killed out of hand.
The law cannot protect you, cops cannot protect you... at best they can catch the criminal and avenger you. However, YOU are responsible for protecting YOU. Gun control prevents YOU from doing that.

From the article:
The 9mm, says Sheriff Fontoura, is easily concealed and easy to use and most young men are familiar with one. "Have you been to the movies lately?
When you see the gunfire, most likely the weapon is a 9mm," he explains.
Movies like the Matrix are just one example; the 9mm also has a starring role in video games and music. "It’s a sexy weapon," Fontoura says. "
It just looks good. And our young people are enjoying that and learning from that."
It may help to explain why so many mass shootings involve a 9mm weapon —both of the Columbine shooters were armed with one.
But it’s not just the gun that can turn a shooter into a mass killer. It's also the size of the magazine or clip that contains the ammunition that allows a shooter to fire
several rounds without having to reload.
"
Now when the clip comes in, you just kick it out, grab another one, kick it in and your are ready to go again," the sheriff explains.
Asked how long it takes to reload, Fontoura says, "
If you are really go at it, you can do it in a matter of seconds."
Cho was able to fire 15 rounds at a time, one by one, before he would stop and reload. He was also armed with .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun that
shoots 10 rounds at a time.
I have highlighted all the text that proved to me that the Sheriff was most likely a figment of the journalist's imagination.
Or an idiot.

I dispise the fact that they don't let the dust settle a little, they have no problem using the people that are hurting. Having a debate on gun control in public isn't fair to the family

I don't know, maybe this will cause a ban on 9mm. Would that be so bad?

Any ban, any ground given to them, will be just the start. They won't stop at 9mm if they get that banned.
I hope you were being facetious.

This is typical of some of the Main Stream Media (MSM) I write about a dozen letters a week to these people. A gun is a tool just like a saw or a hammer and can't be assigned characteristics as though it were alive. Jeff Cooper called this hoplophobia which meant an unnatural fear of weaponry. If we make laws forbiding guns for the law abiding then only the bad guys will be armed. That doesn't seen like a reasonable solution to a complex problem.

This is what I posted :
A dog by it's nature is more dangerous than a firearm because a dog has a brain and has the potential to go back to it's nature. A firearm is an inanimate object that is subject to the laws of physics. A firearm can't load itself, it isn't spontaneously going to fire on it's own.
This crime was done by a monster, it wouldn't have mattered if he would have a baseball bat, a rock or a car he wanted to kill. He was a monster it was a crime HE is responsible for it.
Let me ask this, "When that Muslim ran over people in North Carolina why didn't people call for the banning of SUV's?, Why didn't CBS ask more questions about that terrorist attack?"

Or what about when that ******* old man in California killed 10 or so people in a market a couple years ago? (And then tried to blame it on the people--that's why I call him an *******.) He did that with a Buick. Maybe we should ban Buicks.
Although banning Buicks wouldn't be a bad idea since they're ugly as sin, but still...

Man They must really be scared if they ever go to a IDPA match or IPSC match. Seconds to reload thats pretty bad. Dave S. Does Sub Second Reloads. I wonder whos training The Sherriffs people. They must not be very tactically sound.

We are the "whipping boys" right now but the congress doesn't have the "guts" to attempt more gun control right now. They will wait for the most oportune time.Steve48

"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms; history shows that all conquerers who have allowed their subjected people to carry arms have prepared their own fall."
Adolf Hitler
"The right of citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard against the tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proven to be always possible."
Hubert Humphrey
Polar opposites those two men; but each knew exactly what he was talking about.
For us now our real strength is in unity. Whether you belong to GOA, NRA, SAF, whatever; belong somewhere and link arms gentlemen. The socialists are coming!
