Their latest poll, today (4/18/07):


"Will gun control be a factor when you vote for president next year?"


Now, let's think about the possible usefulness of such a poll question.

If I staunchly oppose gun control (and I do), I will answer yes, because candidates' positions on gun control will dominate whether I will vote for them. (I'll be voting against anyone who supports it.)

If a person staunchly favors gun control, he will answer yes, because he will be trying to elect someone who will push for gun control laws (beyond the 20,000+ we already have).

So the poll is simply going to show who doesn't give a fart about gun control -- not who wants it and who doesn't.

But are we ever looking to CNN for intelligence? No.

I votes "NO" because this was a very transparent ruse. You know that CNN will take the "YES" answer and run with it.
