NRA-ILA is reporting that Sen. Mikulski (D-MD) has removed the Tiahrt Amendment from the CJS bill. Will Sen. Hutchinson be able to help get it be revived (and can either of Tennessee's senators help)?

    Anti-Gun Senator Does Bloomberg's Bidding --
Yanks Tiahrt Amendment From Appropriations Bill

Anti-gun Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.), Chairwoman of the Commerce, Justice, Science (CJS) Appropriations Subcommittee, announced she will not include the Tiahrt Amendment in the CJS appropriations bill.

In doing so, Mikulski will defy the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) and the Fraternal Order of Police-supporters of the Amendment-and instead chose to do the bidding of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R). While a temporary setback, that is not the final step in the Senate process.

The Full Committee can override Mikulski! The above is old news - June 8, 2006. I don't know that has ANY impact on the Appropriations Committe hearings. Mikulski has indicated she'll try to stop the restriction, but on Thursday, the Full Committe will be hearing the bill - and make sure Tiahrt Restrictions are included in the FINAL bill that goes to the full Senate.

I'm not an expert on protocol and scope of Senate Committees, but the Senate Appropriations Committee is holding full hearings on this Thursday - and Appropriations holds the purse strings - their hearings are on the ATF Bill within which Tiahrt is included IIRC. Thursday is important!

Please contact your Senator if they are on the Appropriations Committee!

    Exclamation Immediate Action Needed

OK Folks! This is important! Please call or e-mail Senator Hutchinson today to support the Tiahrt Restriction.

The group STOPNRA is in an all out frontal assault to oppose Tiahrt in the full Appropriations Committee Hearings Thursday. We must make our voices heard immediately!

The war being waged on 2A is a war of incrementalism. We must face them in their assaults at ever step.

Please call or e-mail her today and show support for the Tiahrt Restrictions.

Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson supported the Shelby Amendment in Committee yesterday! The Shelby Amendment was more strongly worded than the Tiahrt Restrictions!

    See Ex's post here: http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulle...ad.php?t=28152

Please send her a big "Thank you"
