n a state with millions of gun owners and more than 430,000 concealed weapon permit-holders, a candidate doesn't get to schmooze the habitual voters to be found among the firearm, knife, and occasional Nazi memorabilia vendors without help from two key figures: Pasco County GOP Chairman Bill Bunting and Victor Bean of Orlando, the owner of the Southern Classic Gun & Knife shows.
The above Nazi quote is way out of line and is a negative slant to the story. For those in Tampa and the area I would blast the editor and publisher regarding the irrelevancy of the word Nazi.

    +1 Pitmaster.

Fred is a good guy and I like the fact that when he goes to campaign at a gun show, it doesn't look staged and stilted. He seems at ease with the show, with the people there and if he weren't famous, he'd blend in and not stand out as someone who was trying to be something he isn't.

Unless something big happens, I'll be voting for Fred.

I was so perturbed I sent the below message.

“In a state with millions of gun owners and more than 430,000 concealed weapon permit-holders, a candidate doesn't get to schmooze the habitual voters to be found among the firearm, knife, and occasional Nazi memorabilia vendors without help from two key figures: Pasco County GOP Chairman Bill Bunting and Victor Bean of Orlando, the owner of the Southern Classic Gun & Knife shows.?"

I find your reference to Nazi to be offensive to gun owners and just about every ethnic, religious, political, and other group of people. By far the majority of gun owners abhor the Nazi philosophy. In fact one of the arguments against gun control and gun laws is the fact that the Nazi’s disarmed citizens and Jewish people in particular which led to the holocaust. http://www.jpfo.org/GCA_68.htm

Below are some articles that have been put together by others that I hope you can give some thought to. My conversion to becoming proactive for self-defense is the one titled “Why The Gun Is Civilization”. The Second Amendment gives citizens the right to protect ourselves from those who want to take away the rights of we under in the rest of the amendments. I have attached a PDF file with some references and information for you to read and review.

    Respectfully
I also include several other comments about CCW and guns that I have collected, as well as attached a PDF put out by Gun Owner Foundation.

Included was "Why The Gun Is Civilizatiion", "10 Things People Should Know About CCW Holders", and "Top 10 Gun Control Myths".

I like Fred also, I just wish he would really beat the bushes now so that many other people will know where he stands...
I find him to be the strongest 'pub' in the group,so far, that I would vote for...we'll see.

    The reporter's response

Thanks for note. I understand your sentiments and actually thought twice about that Nazi reference. Obviously the majority of any group abhors the Nazi philosophy but if you spend any time in gun shows you can't deny there are usually several people selling stuff like that. If a candidate were working a crowd at a state fair, passing by by swastica sellers I would have noted that too. Adam Smith Political Editor St. Petersburg Times

True, but there are also people selling various types of jerky.

I love how the reporters are looking over all the WWII stuff and looking at just the German stuff that is sold at gun shows. The last few I have been to have had a large collection of US and German WWII wares, but just because the German stuff sticks out more you can't label it as Nazi wares. IT IS WWII wares, both the good and the bad!
