I like Mike.
His wife Janet was feautured on the news here shooting an MP5 and giggling like a teenager. She loved it and promptly put those that threw a fit about in their place.

I watched some of the NRA meeting on CSPAN (AND watching now) The Governor was very passionate and very pro 2A. I find it interesting though that since he's a Christian he gives the right of self-defense to the Second Amendment while Senator Thompson said the right came straight from God.
I have some issues with the governor, but it's rare totally agree with anyone, one of which has pretty much caused me to totally balk at the idea of voting for him.
But to be honest Senator Thompson has said more I agree with and I'm supporting. I'm not wanting to debate which one is better just try to go for the full disclosure.
"[T]he people are not to be disarmed of their weapons.
They are left in full possession of them."
Zacharia Johnson (speech in the Virginia Ratifying Convention,25 June 1778

How's Huckabee on the rest of the Constitution?
I find that those who truly support the Constitution truly support the our right to self-defense, whereas one can support our right to self-defense but not necessarily be so great with the rest of the Constitution. I'd rather not compromise.

BAC below is Huckabee web site, maybe what you are looking for will be here or perhaps an internet search:

Until yesterday on tv at the NRA National meeting, I had paid little attention to this "race", since in my mind I knew who I was going to vote for either Ron Paul or Thompson. As of yesterday, Huckabee moved into first place for me. These are the only three (3) I would even give any thought to voting for.

In my opinoin, Huckabee did a good enough job as the Governor here that I would vote for him. I beleive he'd still be Governor today if it werent for term limits that were voted in after the Marxist Ex President and his wife left and the Klinton clone and felon Jim Guy Tucker raped the people of Arkansas for a decade.
The liberalcommunistsocialistreehugginoneworldersdemoc rats hated him with a passion, so he cant be that bad.

DOGOFWAR01, I apologize if I came across as ignorant; I was speaking rhetorically, in this case. I'm familiar with Huckabee's views, and more specifically disagree very strongly with several of them. There are also things he proposes that are exactly the same as my prime candidate, but the reasons he provides for them are very, very different, and that is very important to me (and should be to all of us).
Since I can't say much more without violating the forum rules, so I'll politely shaddap.

As far as I'm concerned, the only candidate I'm willing to vote for is Ron Paul. All the other ones are terrible. The Democrats are all a bunch of anti-gun socialists bent on turning the country into a gun-free socialist paradise, and the Republicans are all a bunch of pro-war morons who want to destroy our economy through never-ending deficit spending and unending wars of aggression, and they're all in favor of the US becoming part of the UN and being subject to UN laws, as well as creating a single North American country including Mexico.
Ron Paul is the only candidate who favors a strict interpretation of the Constitution and the 2A, favors getting us out of unnecessary wars, favors getting our military out of over 100 countries worldwide where they have no business, so they can defend our own border, favors fixing our Federal Reserve system so our currency isn't just funny money, favors closing the Mexican border and getting illegal aliens out of the country, and favors massively reducing or eliminating federal taxes and returning power to the States where it should be.
I don't care who gets the nominations for these two parties which don't represent real Americans anymore; I'm voting for Ron Paul in '08.

Warning, folks. Keep the discussion in this thread confined to Second Amendment issues only, or it will be closed.

Just this extract from the Huckabee website, emphasis added:
"# The Second Amendment is primarily about tyranny and self-defense, not hunting. The Founding Fathers wanted us to be
able to defend ourselves from our own government, if need be, and from all threats to our lives and property.
# Second Amendment rights belong to individuals, not cities or states."
Oh, and as HotGuns said, Mike has his CHL!

Great, Huckabee has a concealed carry permit, Ron Paul would eliminate the need for such permits.
