Huckabee former Governor from Arkansas, is the FIRST governor to receive his CWP /CCW.

Take a look at Thompson's voting on the GOA link on the web or posted here on an another thread.

    I will go with Huckabee.

Please remember that past history has repeatedly taught us that we can't accept what candidates tell us during the campaign for election, and that goes for both major parties and all issues, including gun control. They tell us what they think we want to hear.

The best evidence of what they truly believe is past voting records, and/or past speeches or comments.

Ok folks. I merged a few threads all dealing with the NRA meeting (not convention) where some of the presidential candidates spoke. Also going to start merging the I'm for xxx threads if folks keep starting them. I'm not closing any of them right now, but remember that the owner has a low tolerance for political threads.

I could only wish that when Rudy spoke the entire body present had stood and turned their backs on him; like he essentually to us with his lawsuit.

Noticed in the newspaper that Fred Thompson was the only candidate addressing the NRA that had a 100% score with the NRA.
Its a shame that youth is wasted on the young.

I completely agree with both your statements here. No other candidate will get my vote besides Ron Paul.

And what is the deal with Giuliani, anyway? He should be running on the Democrat ticket. He's not conservative in any way.

Thomson is anti-gun. Check out his voting record here:

He's not as anti-gun as Hillary of course, but he has way too many anti-gun votes here to be considered a pro-gun candidate.

I question that list. There are items on it that are not specifically gun-related, and are only included because GOA didn't happen to like them. That makes me question the integrity of their ratings.

Not that I agree with every vote Thompson has ever made, but he has made his opinion of the 2A and gun-owners very clear - he's fer 'em.

Ron Paul is definitely a strong 2A supporter as well, but I have problems with some of his other stances, and I really don't think he is electable, even if he gets the R nomination.

Fred Thompson is a huge supporter of the 2nd Admendment. His two terms in the Senate shows that. His voting record shows vote against gun restricting laws that were being pushed through at the time. He has always talked about his support of law abiding citizens and their gun ownership. Don't see any problem with his stand on this subject. I believe he is one of the strongest on it.

per GOA here is Fred Thompson record on the 2A

Ron Paul is not perfect but compared to all others he is the strongest supporter of the 2A. Fred Thompson is the second strongest supporter of the 2A, see his voting record on the above link, it is far from perfect.

In my opinion, Rudy and McCain should not have been allowed to speak to the NRA based on their record supporting the 2A.

The NRA needs to pick a candidate to support, now not after the national conventions.
I just saw the list and I noticed several of the subjects marked "anti gun" had nothing to do with weapons. I think this is just as bad a spin job as I have seen from the far left.
