taught a few Germans what freedom is like

Had 2 Germans and a Swiss come down to the range today.
Having come from socialist countries, neither of the germans had ever seen a gun and the swiss had never shot a pistol.
They all had tons of fun. One of the germans had trouble getting how the whole thing worked at first (especially since there were multiple misfires), but he improved greatly. The other german did amazing. his groups right off the bat on the .22 were amazing. I let him try my 9mm and his first 3 shots were in the black, next 2 not far from. He also tried my friends full size 1911 which worked a little better for him since he had bigger hands than me. overall he did very well and just loved it.
Didnt get to see much of how the swiss did, but it looked like he had fun. It was nice that we had a good initial connection between us (i lived in germany for a year and speak german just find) to break the ice.
Overall they all had tons of fun and realized just how great of a freedom it is to be able to have guns here in the US.

I thought in Switzerland each home is REQUIRED to have a fully automatic weapon in their home at all times. I guess that's why the pistol was new to the Swiss guy.

in germany you choose between military service and some other kind of volunteer work, most do the later

I had the opportunity a few months back to take a 2 Swedish guys to the range. They had a very good time :) (so did I)

Always fun to (politely) discuss the differences in cultures. These guys were on vacation... they get lots of it... and just looking for something to do. We talked about health care, taxes, politics... all very polite and friendly.

Man, and I glad I was born an American.

They did eat up a bunch of my ammo, especially .308, but it was worth it!

Did you talk to those germans about the shootings in Duisburg? I love to point out that no matter what the laws are criminals always have guns and no matter what the cops will come too late to mop it up. I love America :)

Good job! It's always a good experience to introduce someone who has never shot before and see the giant grin they have for the rest of the day.
