SCOTUS Declines DC Case

The SCOTUS isn't going to look at the DC case, at least for now. May consider again in late November.

I didn't think that they had "declined" it rather decided to wait a little bit longer before the go / no-go

Wording is probably wrong. It will probably be after the Thanksgiving holiday before they look at it again.

No Action != Declined

They simply haven't decided yet if they will take the case. No comments were issued as to why they have taken this non-action.

NRAILA page says they have just postponed, earliest they could announce a decision on whether they'll hear it or not will be November 26th.

Hey, if they don't hear it, then we win anyway. then this will be an example of case law, something that can lead to more court challenges in more states.

It wasn't declined, they just said they will look at the issue again on Nov 26.

Can they postpone indefinately?
I would think they would be required to rule one way or another in a reasonable amount of time.

IIRC, they can refuse to take the case completely, with no justification whatsoever. If they do refuse, however, a lot of folks will be scratching their heads for a long time....

That's for sure. Although if they decline to take it that is a win for gun rights advocates. It does start a positive precedent for us.

12 more days of nail-biting. I tend to believe they will rule in our favor. I just hope they broadly rule in our favor.

I spent all morning refreshing foxnews' SCOTUS page, till I saw it. They are clearly going to give this all the scrutiny they can manage, which bodes well for us. Well, the 26th is that far away.
