Gun Permit database for Monroe County, IN
I stumbled across the online version of the Bloomington (IN) Herald Times. I was shocked to find that they have an online database of gun licensees for Monroe County. Unfortunately, I don't have an account to see what kind of information they provide, but I thought I'd bring it up in case someone from that area didn't know this existed.....

you'd think there have been enough lawsuits over this that they'd learn not to do it.
"A well-educated electorate, being necessary to the continuance of a free state, the right of the people to keep and read books shall not be infringed."
Is this hard to understand? Then why does it get unintelligible to some people when 5 little words are changed?

The question is, is ccw a closed record in IN or is it considered a public record? In Missouri the legislature state ccw is a closed record available to LE agencies only.
If there is not a statute protecting the records, then unfortunately the database is perfectly legal.

I don't think its legal. I've forwarded it to a couple of places to glean a little more info. Will report back.

Bloomington is very liberal! IU is there, so we all know what University and University towns are like!

Bloomington IS very liberal; but the CCW is state administered, you apply at the city or county if not in a city's limit but the permit is issued by the state police.
I use to live there and a good buddy of mine is a retired chief deputy for the county. I may send him a link to this and see what gives.

I wondered about that. I spent a little time looking at Indiana Law, and couldn't find anything. If it is there, it's not as clear as Missouri's law

They are open records and its legal.
I know there won't be any interest by my local reps to change that.
