What Gun "Rights"Organizations Does Everyone Belong To?
Hi all,
Not sure if I'm posting in the right place but I would like to get more actively involved in the pro-rights side of things relating to guns, gun rights, concealed carry issues, limiting infringement on right to carry, etc.
NRA is probably a good start but I was wondering what types of clubs, organizations everyone here belongs to? Local, regional, national.
I am a new CCW holder (less than a month). And my first stop was this blog to sign up -
Now to get involved locally, regionally, nationally.
Thanks in advance!
The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his wearing his sidearm. 'Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting trouble?' 'No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my rifle.'

NRA......
Heres my take on this whole issue about "getting involved" I think a lot of people try to go the politcal route get frustrated and stop do to getting burned out really really fast. By all means if thats what you want and you have the stomach for politics go for it.
I look at it a differn't way, if you really want to change somebody's mind you have to change their heart. I've found the easiest way to get somebody to change their side is to take them shooting. If you want to take it a next step. Become an Instructor yourself and join up with a local club or CCW crew and start teaching not only to better your own knowledge but to have a positive impact. Take this guys for example they are a political group but have HUGE impact among youth and women
Alamo City Shooting & Outdoor Sportsfest
These guys up in Wisconsin are FREAKING incredible when it comes to serving the public intrest/changing opinions.
United States Marine Poolee Training Photos - Heritage Shooting, Inc.
They not only run sports camps but run the USMC Poolee program. Introducing "Poolees" how to operate an M16 style Rifle before going to boot.
Don't get me wrong the lobbying side is very much needed. But teaching people (expecially women: they decide if there is a gun in the home) the correct way of doing things is what really makes the lobbying side.

I agree with Rob99VMI04. The best thing to do on a personal level is to take people shooting and be a good example of a responsible gun owner. But to answer your question, so far just the NRA. But I am thinking about joining the Gun Owners of America as well.

I belong to both the NRA and GOA. My wife belongs to the NRA.

Thats kind of unusual?
NRA is souly dedicated as a membership organization, and focuses on competitions, training, and community programs, I think I'm forgetting something but its not political.
The NRA-ILA is the lobbying side and generally is the side thats always asks for political contributions etc..

I am a member of the NRA and the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association. I have been looking into the GOA and the US Concealed Carry Association.

NRA, SAF (Second Amendment Foundation), and Georgiacarry.org. Lately I've considered sending more contributions to SAF since they seem to support more of the right things. I'll also be sending more support for Georgiacarry.
