Everything I've seen so far is legislation at the state level.

I'd put money down thats a concerted and timed effort by HCI or someone like that. In the next few days they'll alert the press and then you'll see headlines of "Record number of gun control measures seen across the country..." and junk like that. The fact that most will more than likely fail will be quietly brushed off.

    Agreed...probably because it's a presidential election year.

Yes - it turns out that the legislation comes from here. All the sponsoring Democrats did was copy/paste & insert Arizona DPS in the spots that said [AGENCY]

Additional info on possibility of it all being the result of a corporation that has applied for the patent for the serialization process is here.

According to the National Safety Council, we are more likely to die in a bicycle accident or plane crash than an accidental gun shooting. We should ban bicycles & planes before banning guns.

the UN has been pushing for ammo accountabity for years to go along with the disarmament of the masses. not to sound like a paranoid whacko but i just don't trust that group.

it's not just arizona, it's at the national level...

National Crime Gun Identification Act of 2007

introduced and supported by our normal favorite dems (feinstein, etc). it covers gun AND ammo microstamping.

this is all about putting the gun industry slowly out of business through price increases.

Uh, now we get to the heart of the matter

A great deal of legislation in this country occurs because of behind the scenes work by various corporate interests which may not be where the rest of the population is on a matter.

Regardless of how you might feel for example about the issue of employee drug testing, the hidden little secret is that it sprang not from employer needs or demands, but the testing industry pushing its own agenda for private profit. Hence, all of a sudden, out of thin air, Reagan and Congress suddenly got on the issue. Now the testing industry is working behind the scenes to get schools to test kids for nicotine--tobacco use. (Maybe not a bad idea but it didn't originate with demands from schools to solve a real problem.)

Same is probably operating here. A corp. needs a market for its product and the rest of the citizenry be damned. They make a market by quietly getting some legislative clout on their side and then zing it to all of us.

Contact your Federal Reps and Senators and have them introduce a bill to ban ANY stamping law.

I want one of these. But, I guess it would be illegal to carry under Mississippi laws.
