Oppressive Ammunition Restrictions Pass California Assembly!
From: NRA-ILA :: Legislation
Thursday, May 29, 2008
This afternoon the Assembly voted to pass Assembly Bill 2062 by a vote of 41-31.
Authored by State Assembly Member Kevin De Leon (D-45), AB2062 would make it a crime to privately transfer more than 50 rounds of ammunition per month, even between family and friends, unless you are registered as a “handgun ammunition vendor” in the Department of Justice’s database. Ammunition retailers would have to be licensed and store ammunition in such a manner that it would be inaccessible to purchasers. The bill would also require vendors to keep a record of the transaction including the ammunition buyer’s name, driver’s license, the quantity, caliber, type of ammunition purchased, and right thumbprint, which would be submitted to the Department of Justice. All ammunition sales in the state of California would be subject to a $3 per transaction tax. Lastly, mail order ammunition sales would be prohibited. Any violator of AB2062 would be subject to civil fines. AB2062 was amended to remove the requirement that law-abiding gun owners obtain a permit to purchase handgun ammunition.
AB2062 now heads to the Senate for its consideration. Please contact your State Senator TODAY and respectfully urge him or her to oppose AB2062 when it comes before them for a vote. Contact information can be found here.
Boy, the California Assembly is just full of good news today!

Holy cow. I am speechless. That's not even enough for a range trip for me - 50 rounds a month for 3 guns? Or am I reading it wrong in that you can buy more from a licsenced dealer?

I see a whole new California government office being created out of that. Department of ammunitions transfers and licenses. I still say mandatory drug testing for all government officials. They've got to be 'on' something.

The problem with this, ammo coding, microstamping, and all is most people keep asking the wrong question, "How can I keep up a defensive hobby, go to the range etc... with these laws." That is actually the point, you cant. They keep hitting road blocks trying to take your guns away, so they are trying to make it impossible to get ammo. It is a coordinated effort nationwide and the only way to fight it is to make sure people know what the Brady Bunch is doing.

So...You're soon going to be paying 50 dollars for a box of ammo. And I am actually appalled by the fact someone thought it would be acceptable to make the law abiding public get ANOTHER permit, for our god given right to defend our lives and the lives of those we love.
Anyone else here want to go in on a small island with me?

CA is just plain nuts...with the added 'fruits and berries'
, the entire state is looking more like a big box of cereal every day...
WHY would anyone in his right mind continue to live there?
Stay armed...plan ahead...stay safe!
"That I cannot do."
"Give this to, uh, Clemenza. I want reliable people, people who aren't going to be carried away. After all we're not murderers in spite of what this undertaker thinks."

You guys need to not vote for those anti-gun people. That's what happens when you put them in office.

G19, G23, P2000 (9mm), LMT Defender 2000 (SOPMOD), Colt LE6920, Ruger 10/22
