This is great news, but: does OH have state-level pre-emption of firearms laws?
I ask because I live in PA and have a FLA non-res permit, which allows me CCW in OH. I used to live in Toledo, but have been putting off visiting old friends there due to the hideous OH CCW laws (esp regarding carry in the car).
So now OH CCW laws are far more user friendly....BUT is there a patchwork of oppressive local municipalities where I'm liable to fall into some trap? Toledo city government was always miserably Leftist, so if there is no state pre-emption, I expect Toledo to be among the worst offenders.
Anybody know the facts on the ground there?
Signed,
Phearful in Philadelphia

We do have preemption and have since March 14, 2007. We got HB347 passed which gave us statewide preemption and got rid of the ridicuous "in plain sight" with our carry firearms.
So, come on over for a visit!

So all the horror stories about certain cities making and enforcing local bans and ordinances -- that's all history now? I mean, not just statutorily, but OH cities are behaving themselves now?

For the most part, yes. The big three city council's (Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati) are made up of bafoons and clowns who haven't learned their roles just yet, however, they are powerless over these issues but to ignorant to know it.

We have preemption today. Whether we will still have preemption a couple months from now remains to be seen. Sometime this summer the Ohio Supreme Court is going to issue a decision which has the potential to gut Ohio's CCW law and state preemption.
Of course, a good decision would make preemption solid and after that, watch a lot of "no guns" signs disappear.

Like Linda said.
If they declare Ohio's CCW law to not be a general law, then Home Rule cities can pass any kind of ordinance restricting CCW.
Here are a couple articles about the case.

That archived video is appalling to watch. How much more out of touch can Pfiefer , and some of the others be with reality based on the nonsense they let escape from their mouths.
