Today I was listening into 96.1 at 11 AM when the talk show was discussing apt punishment for petty crimes when the announcer mentioned that he would be paralyzed by fear is someone broke into his house for the fifth time while his children and wife were at home. For the first time in my life I called the guy and on live radio told him how I am not afraid thanks to my bedroom shotgun and that I carry a handgun concealed. He retorted "That is a dangerous step!" and I said "A dangerous step towards what?" and he said that it would be a dangerous step for homeowners and street walkers to be violent vigilantes like that. I told him that I am a peaceful guy with no ill will towards anyone except those who are posing an immediate danger to me, my loved ones and my property. The guy said, "That is what I mean, violent..." and I told him again that there is nothing violent about me and my wife catching Z's at night minding our own business, it is the criminal breaking in who, may or may not be armed, is being violent and breaking the law. I then went on for a few good minutes discussing John Stuart Mill, Hobbes, John Locke and Hume and what they had to say, philosophically which was also how our founding fathers felt about our right to self preservation, to property and freedom from persecution.

Then callers after me refered to me as the guy with the southern accent. LoL

I am asking for all of you Vermonters to listen in to VPR and other local radio broadcasts and to give your 2 cents everytime 2nd Amendment issues come up! Please! Because Sanders is contemplating some new state level gun laws that would restrict our state's gun freedoms.

Have a wonderful 232nd 4th of July my fellow law abiding citizens :bier:

Sanders??? Bernie Sanders?!? What would he have to do with Vermont's state level gun laws? He's one of their U.S. Senators. Although it always amazes me that a state that continually elects the only admitted Socialist to Congress (first as a Representative, later as a Senator) has such great gun laws.
